Proteolysis and neurogenesis modulated by LNR domain proteins explosion support male differentiation and sacrificial behaviour in the iteroparous crustacean Oithona nana.
Kevin Sugier,Romuald Laso-Jadart,Soheib Kerbache,Jos Käfer,Majda Arif,Laurie Bertrand,Karine Labadie,Nathalie Martins,Celine Orvain,Emmanuelle Petit,Julie Poulain,Patrick Wincker,Jean-Louis Jamet,Adriana Alberti,Mohammed-Amin Madoui +14 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that the O. nana male hypermotility is sustained by LDP-modulated proteolysis allowing the releases and conversions of amino acid into the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate, which could support the hypothesis of a sacrificial behaviour in males at the metabolic level.

A cross-biomes bacterial diversity shed light on ocean-atmosphere microbial transmission
Naama Lang-Yona,Naama Lang-Yona,J. Michel Flores,Rotem Haviv,Adriana Alberti,Julie Poulain,Caroline Belser,Miri Trainic,Daniella Gat,Hans-Joachim Ruscheweyh,Patrick Wincker,Shinichi Sunagawa,Yinon Rudich,Ilan Koren,Assaf Vardi +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors simultaneously surveyed the genomic diversity of airborne and marine bacterial communities across 15, 000 kilometers in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and found that higher variability of microbial community composition was observed in the atmosphere than in the ocean surface waters.
A transcriptomic approach to study marine plankton holobionts
Arnaud Meng,Erwan Corre,Pierre Peterlongo,Camille Marchet,Adriana Alberti,Corinne Da Silva,Patrick Wincker,Ian Probert,Noritoshi Suzuki,Stéphane Le Crom,Lucie Bittner,Fabrice Not +11 more
TL;DR: The genetic basis of photosymbiosis, through a transcriptomic approach on marine plankton organisms, is investigated, more specifically on associations occurring between radiolarian host and dinoflagellates symbiont living inside the host cell.

Voolstra,Patrick Wincker,Didier Zoccola,Serge Planes,Denis Allemand,Eric Gilson,Didier Forcioli +37 more
TL;DR: This genotyping method will allow to fully analyze the coral samples collected across the Pacific during the Tara Pacific expedition and opens technological perspectives in the field of population genomics-guided conservation.
