Journal ArticleDOI
Zn-II(atsm) is protective in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis model mice via a copper delivery mechanism
Erin J. McAllum,Blaine R. Roberts,James L. Hickey,Theresa N. T. Dang,Alexandra Grubman,Paul S. Donnelly,Jeffrey R. Liddell,Anthony R. White,Peter J. Crouch,Peter J. Crouch +9 more
TL;DR: The observed therapeutic effects for Zn(II)(atsm) in SOD1G37R mice may in fact be due to in vivo transmetallation and subsequent delivery of Cu, indicating that the metallation state of S OD1 provides a viable therapeutic option.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Water-Soluble Bis(thiosemicarbazone) Ligand. A Sensitive Probe and Metal Buffer for Zinc
Gojko Buncic,Paul S. Donnelly,Brett M. Paterson,Jonathan M. White,Matthias Zimmermann,Zhiguang Xiao,Anthony G. Wedd +6 more
TL;DR: The first member of a water-soluble family of bis(thiosemicarbazone) ligands is reported, which forms a 1:1 complex with Zn(II) that absorbs intensely in the visible region and could have potential application as a chromophoric probe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen adduction by three coordinate group 10 organometallic cations: platinum is favoured over nickel and palladium.
TL;DR: The rapid addition of nitrogen to the coordinatively unsaturated organoplatinum cation formed via decarboxylation of the acetate complex, [(phen)Pt(CH(3))](+) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) is reported on.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct versus Water-Mediated Protodecarboxylation of Acetic Acid Catalyzed by Group 10 Carboxylates, [(phen)M(O2CCH3)]+
Matthew J. Woolley,George N. Khairallah,Gabriel da Silva,Paul S. Donnelly,Richard A. J. O'Hair +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the gas phase protodecarboxylation of acetic acid catalyzed by group 10 metal complexes was examined using a combination of multistage mass spectrometry experiments in an ion trap mass analyzer, DFT calculations, and theoretical kinetic modeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations on a Cage Theme: Some Complexes of Bicyclic Polyamines as Supramolecular Synthons
Ian J. Clark,Alessandra Crispini,Paul S. Donnelly,Lutz M. Engelhardt,Jack Harrowfield,Jack Harrowfield,Seong-Hoon Jeong,Yang Kim,George A. Koutsantonis,Young Hoon Lee,Nigel A. Lengkeek,Mauro Mocerino,Gareth L. Nealon,Mark I. Ogden,Yu Chul Park,Claudio Pettinari,Lara Polanzan,Elisabeth Rukmini,Alan M. Sargeson,Brian W. Skelton,Alexandre N. Sobolev,Pierre Thuéry,Allan H. White +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, a body of crystallographic information concerning metal(ii) and metal(iii) complexes of macrobicyclic hexamine ligands and some of their derivatives provides evidence for the action of a variety of intermolecular forces within the lattices.
