Journal ArticleDOI

Zn-II(atsm) is protective in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis model mice via a copper delivery mechanism

TL;DR: The observed therapeutic effects for Zn(II)(atsm) in SOD1G37R mice may in fact be due to in vivo transmetallation and subsequent delivery of Cu, indicating that the metallation state of S OD1 provides a viable therapeutic option.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Water-Soluble Bis(thiosemicarbazone) Ligand. A Sensitive Probe and Metal Buffer for Zinc

TL;DR: The first member of a water-soluble family of bis(thiosemicarbazone) ligands is reported, which forms a 1:1 complex with Zn(II) that absorbs intensely in the visible region and could have potential application as a chromophoric probe.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrogen adduction by three coordinate group 10 organometallic cations: platinum is favoured over nickel and palladium.

TL;DR: The rapid addition of nitrogen to the coordinatively unsaturated organoplatinum cation formed via decarboxylation of the acetate complex, [(phen)Pt(CH(3))](+) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline) is reported on.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct versus Water-Mediated Protodecarboxylation of Acetic Acid Catalyzed by Group 10 Carboxylates, [(phen)M(O2CCH3)]+

TL;DR: In this article, the gas phase protodecarboxylation of acetic acid catalyzed by group 10 metal complexes was examined using a combination of multistage mass spectrometry experiments in an ion trap mass analyzer, DFT calculations, and theoretical kinetic modeling.
