Journal ArticleDOI
The long term vaccine‐induced anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 immune response is impaired in quantity and quality under TNFα blockade
Ulf Geisen,Ruben Rose,F S Neumann,M. Ciripoi,L. Vullriede,Hayley M Reid,Dennis Kristopher Berner,Federico Bertoglio,Paula Hoff,Michael Hust,Ann Carolin Longardt,Thomas Lorentz,Gabriela Rios Martini,Carina Saggau,Jan H. Schirmer,Maren Schubert,Melike Sümbül,Florian Tran,Mathias Voß,R Zeuner,Peter J. Morrison,Petra Bacher,Helmut Fickenscher,Sascha Gerdes,Matthias Peipp,Stefan Schreiber,Andi Krumbholz,Bimba F. Hoyer +27 more
TL;DR: A reduced SARS‐CoV‐2 neutralizing capacity in patients under TNF‐α blockade is shown and the plasma cell response appears to be less specific and shows stronger bystander activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Limited use of antiseptics in septic surgery.
Eric Röhner,Paula Hoff,Tilman Pfitzner,Joern Bengt Seeger,Frank Buttgereit,Carsten Perka,Georg Matziolis +6 more
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that commonly used antiseptics (polyhexanide, hydrogen peroxide, and chlorhexidine) induce different stages of apoptosis on human chondrocytes, and data show that poly hexanide and chlor hexidine only promote the early stages of euthanasia without any differences in toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
MIF does only marginally enhance the pro-regenerative capacities of DFO in a mouse-osteotomy-model of compromised bone healing conditions
Annemarie Lang,Quan Ouyang,Jonathan Stefanowski,Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Angelique Wolter,Angelique Wolter,Alexandra Damerau,Alexandra Damerau,Shabnam Hemmati-Sadeghi,Rainer Haag,Anja E. Hauser,Anja E. Hauser,Max Löhning,Max Löhning,Georg N. Duda,Paula Hoff,Paula Hoff,Paula Hoff,Katharina Schmidt-Bleek,Katharina Schmidt-Bleek,Timo Gaber,Timo Gaber,Timo Gaber,Frank Buttgereit,Frank Buttgereit,Frank Buttgereit +26 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors combined a well-known HIF-stabilizer (DFO) and a less known HIFenhancer (MIF) to synergistically induce improved fracture healing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Scaffold‐Free Bone Equivalents Induce Osteogenic and Angiogenic Processes in a Human In Vitro Fracture Hematoma Model
Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Alexandra Damerau,Alexandra Damerau,Igor Ponomarev,Christian H. Bucher,Yuling Chen,Yuling Chen,Dirk Barnewitz,Christa Thöne-Reineke,Paula Hoff,Frank Buttgereit,Frank Buttgereit,Timo Gaber,Timo Gaber,Annemarie Lang,Annemarie Lang +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, scaffold-free bone-like constructs (SFBCs) were developed from bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) using a macro-scale mesenymal condensation approach, which revealed permeating mineralization characterized by increased bone volume and expression of osteogenic markers.
Posted ContentDOI
HIF-stabilization prevents delayed fracture healing
Annemarie Lang,S. Helfmeier,Jonathan Stefanowski,Jonathan Stefanowski,A. Kuppe,Vikram Sunkara,Vikram Sunkara,Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Moritz Pfeiffenberger,Angelique Wolter,Angelique Wolter,Alexandra Damerau,Alexandra Damerau,Shabnam Hemmati-Sadeghi,Shabnam Hemmati-Sadeghi,Jochen Ringe,Rainer Haag,Anja E. Hauser,Anja E. Hauser,M. Loehning,M. Loehning,Carsten Perka,Georg N. Duda,Paula Hoff,Paula Hoff,Katharina Schmidt-Bleek,Timo Gaber,Timo Gaber,Frank Buttgereit,Frank Buttgereit +29 more
TL;DR: These findings provide support for a promising preventive strategy towards bone healing disorders in patients with a higher risk due to e.g. delayed neovascularization by accelerating fracture healing using DFO and MIF to stabilize HIF-1α.
