TL;DR: A modern, comprehensive classification for lycophytes and ferns, down to the genus level, utilizing a community‐based approach, that uses monophyly as the primary criterion for the recognition of taxa, but also aims to preserve existing taxa and circumscriptions that are both widely accepted and consistent with the understanding of pteridophyte phylogeny.

Diversity of ferns and lycophytes in Brazil
Jefferson Prado,Lana da Silva Sylvestre,Paulo H. Labiak,Paulo Günter Windisch,Alexandre Salino,Iva Carneiro Leão Barros,Regina Y. TL;DR: This compilation of ferns and lycophytes in Brazil is an update of the one published in 2010 and shows that the richest phytogeographic domain continues to be in the Atlantic Rainforest which also has the largest number of endemic and threatened species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogeny and Character Evolution of the Bolbitidoid Ferns (Dryopteridaceae)
TL;DR: The results supported the monophyly of bolbitidoid ferns and of Arthrobotrya, Elaphoglossum, Lomagramma, and Teratophyllum; however, Bolbitis was resolved as polyphyletic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogeny and historical biogeography of the lastreopsid ferns (Dryopteridaceae)
Paulo H. Labiak,Michael A. Sundue,Germinal Rouhan,Judith Garrison Hanks,John T. Mickel,Robbin C. Moran +5 more
TL;DR: Diversification among the main clades of the lastreopsid ferns was influenced by climatic and geological changes in the southern hemisphere, and taxonomic recognition of Parapolystichum is warranted to preserve the monophyly of Lastreopsis.
Journal ArticleDOI
