A multiwavelength investigation of the massive eclipsing binary Cyg OB2 #5
N. Linder,Grégor Rauw,Jean Manfroid,Yassine Damerdji,M. De Becker,Philippe Eenens,Pierre Royer,Jean-Marie Vreux +7 more
TL;DR: The physical properties of the early-type binary Cyg OB2 #5 have been investigated for many years and spectroscopic and photometric investigations yielded conflicting results as mentioned in this paper, with the best fit solution of the continuum light curve revealing a contact configuration with the secondary star being significantly brighter and hotter on its leading side facing the primary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of anhydrous hydrochloric acid, HCl, in IRC +10216 with the Herschel SPIRE and PACS spectrometers. Detection of HCl in IRC +10216
José Cernicharo,Leen Decin,Leen Decin,M. J. Barlow,Marcelino Agúndez,Marcelino Agúndez,Pierre Royer,Bart Vandenbussche,Roger Wesson,Edward Polehampton,Edward Polehampton,E. De Beck,J. A. D. L. TL;DR: In this paper, anhydrous hydrochloric acid (hydrogen chlorine, HCl) was detected in the carbon-rich star IRC+10216 using the spectroscopic facilities onboard the Herschel satellite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Herschel images of NGC 6720: H-2 formation on dust grains
P. A. M. van Hoof,G. C. Van de Steene,M. J. Barlow,Katrina Exter,Bruce Sibthorpe,Toshiya Ueta,V. Peris,Martin Groenewegen,J. A. D. L. Blommaert,Marvin L. Cohen,W. De Meester,Gary J. Swinyard,Bart Vandenbussche,H. Van Winckel,C. Waelkens,H. J. Walker,Roger Wesson +30 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a photoionization model of the Ring nebula with the Cloudy code was developed to determine the physical conditions of the dust and investigate possible formation scenarios for the H2.
Journal ArticleDOI
η Carinae's Dusty Homunculus Nebula from Near-infrared to Submillimeter Wavelengths: Mass, Composition, and Evidence for Fading Opacity
Patrick W. Morris,Theodore R. Gull,D. John Hillier,M. J. Barlow,Pierre Royer,Krister E. Nielsen,John H. Black,Bruce Swinyard +7 more
TL;DR: Using radiative transfer modeling, it is found that the two best-fit dust models yield compositions which are consistent with CNO-processed material, with iron, pyroxene and other metal-rich silicates, corundum, and magnesium-iron sulfide in common.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbon monoxide in the cold debris of supernova 1987a
Julia Kamenetzky,Richard McCray,Remy Indebetouw,Remy Indebetouw,M. J. Barlow,Mikako Matsuura,Maarten Baes,Joris Blommaert,Joris Blommaert,Alberto D. Bolatto,Leen Decin,Loretta Dunne,Claes Fransson,Jason Glenn,Haley Louise Gomez,Martin Groenewegen,R. Hopwood,Robert P. Kirshner,Masa Lakicevic,J. M. Yates,Giovanna Zanardo +31 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported spectroscopic and imaging observations of rotational transitions of cold CO and SiO in the ejecta of SN1987A, the first such emission detected in a supernova remnant.
