Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and partial characterization of stonustoxin (lethal factor) from Synanceja horrida venom.

TL;DR: The lethal factor of the stonefish venom, designated as the stonustoxin, was purified to homogeneity by a two-step procedure on Sephacryl S-200 High Resolution gel permeation and DEAE Bio-Gel A anion exchange chromatography to show potent haemolytic activity in vitro and edema-inducing activity in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Practical integration of polymerase chain reaction amplification and electrophoretic analysis in microfluidic devices for genetic analysis.

TL;DR: Genomic DNA samples from several bird species such as pigeon and chicken were analyzed and the integrated μPCR‐μchip for the identification of bird sex was tested, showing that the system could be used as well to determine the sex of avian species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sites of action of mojave toxin isolated from the venom of the mojave rattlesnake

TL;DR: Mojave toxin showed antigenic similarities to crotoxin, the lethal neurotoxin in the venom of the South American rattlesnake, as determined by the ability of antiserum raised against crot toxin to neutralize Mojave toxin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensing the future of HCI: touch, taste, and smell user interfaces

TL;DR: Digital Taste Interface is a method for simulating the sensation of taste by actuating the human tongue through electrical and thermal stimulation, and Taste+ is an interface where the user can augment the flavors of food and beverages by applying weak and controlled electrical pulses on their tongue using electronically enhanced everyday utensils.
