2D material integrated macroporous electrodes for Li-ion batteries
Hemtej Gullapalli,Kaushik Kalaga,Soumya Vinod,Marco-Tulio F. Rodrigues,Antony George,Pulickel M. Ajayan +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a scalable one-step chemical vapor deposition technique is demonstrated for the controlled etching and simultaneous graphene growth on stainless steel substrates resulting in a 3D micro-mesh architecture that is ideal for high rate/high capacity electrodes; the graphene coated 3D stainless steel current collector is used with an MoS2 electrode material for demonstrating high stability and rate capacity in Li ion batteries.

Corrosion Resistance of Sulfur-Selenium Alloy Coatings
Sandhya Susarla,Govinda Chilkoor,Yufei Cui,Taib Arif,Thierry Tsafack,Anand B. Puthirath,Parambath M. Sudeep,Jawahar R. Kalimuthu,Aly Hassan,Samuel Castro-Pardo,Morgan Barnes,Rafael Verduzco,Tobin Filleter,Nikhil Koratkar,Venkataramana Gadhamshetty,Muhammad M. Rahman,Pulickel M. Ajayan +16 more
TL;DR: A lightweight sulfur-selenium (S-Se) alloy is designed with high stiffness and ductility that can serve as an excellent corrosion-resistant coating with protection efficiency of ≈99.9% for steel in a wide range of diverse environments.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Observing the interplay between surface and bulk optical nonlinearities in thin van der Waals crystals
Skylar Deckoff-Jones,Jingjing Zhang,Christopher E. Petoukhoff,Michael K. L. Man,Sidong Lei,Robert Vajtai,Pulickel M. Ajayan,Diyar Talbayev,Julien Madéo,Keshav M. Dani +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the second harmonic generation in atomically thin InSe is studied and a strong resonance is observed, attributed to interference between distinct surface and bulk non-linear contributions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Etching of transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers into nanoribbon arrays
Zixing Wang,Xiang Zhang,Jordan A. Hachtel,Amey Apte,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Robert Vajtai,Robert Vajtai,Juan Carlos Idrobo,Ramazan Ozturk,Pulickel M. Ajayan +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a reducing agent aqueous etchant is used to convert metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) nanoribbons to a lower oxidation state, thus expanding the defects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitive label-free detection of bilirubin in blood using boron nitride-modified nanorod arrays as SERS substrates
Zhi-Qin Geng,Di Xu,Yuhang Song,Weipeng Wang,Yun-Peng Li,Caiqin Han,Guohai Yang,Lu-Lu Qu,Pulickel M. Ajayan +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a recyclable surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate by modifying functional boron nitride (M-BN) monolayer nanosheets on silver nanoarrays (Ag NRs/MBN) for label-free detection of bilirubin (BR) in complex biological samples.
