Flexible carbon nanotube--Cu2O hybrid electrodes for li-ion batteries.
TL;DR: This study demonstrates the formation of a flexible and free-standing carbon nanotube-copper oxide-poly-poly(vinylidene fluoride) (CNT-Cu(2) O-PVDF) nanocomposite and its application as an electrode-separator material for Li-ion batteries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alloyed 2D Metal-Semiconductor Atomic Layer Junctions.
Ah Ra Kim,Yonghun Kim,Jaewook Nam,Hee-Suk Chung,Dongjae Kim,Jung Dae Kwon,Sangwon Park,Jucheol Park,Sun Young Choi,Byoung Hun Lee,Ji Hyeon Park,Kyu Hwan Lee,Dongho Kim,Sung Mook Choi,Pulickel M. Ajayan,Myung Gwan Hahm,Byung Jin Cho +16 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the composition of interfacial transition region between semiconducting WSe2 atomic layer channels and metallic NbSe2 contact layers can be engineered through interfacial doping with Nb atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polytypism in ultrathin tellurium
Amey Apte,Elisabeth Bianco,Aravind Krishnamoorthy,Sadegh Yazdi,Rahul Rao,Nicholas R. Glavin,Hiroyuki Kumazoe,Vikas Varshney,Ajit K. Roy,Fuyuki Shimojo,Emilie Ringe,Rajiv K. Kalia,Aiichiro Nakano,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Chandra Sekhar Tiwary,Priya Vashishta,Vidya Kochat,Pulickel M. Ajayan +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the synthesis of ultrathin tellurium tri-layer flakes with distinct boundaries by physical vapor deposition (PVD) and pulsed laser deposition (PLD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanotechnology: how does a nanofibre grow?
TL;DR: High-resolution microscopy shows that the carbon atoms have a bumpy ride as they grow out of vapour.

Pronounced photovoltaic response from multi-layered transition-metal dichalcogenides PN-junctions
Shahriar Memaran,Nihar R. Pradhan,Zhengguang Lu,Daniel Rhodes,Jonathan Ludwig,Qiong Zhou,Omotola O. Ogunsolu,Pulickel M. Ajayan,Dmitry Smirnov,Luis Balicas +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are layered semiconductors with indirect band gaps comparable to Si, and the authors evaluate the potential of these compounds by studying the photovoltaic response of electrostatically generated PN-junctions composed of approximately ten atomic-layers of MoSe$_2$ stacked onto the dielectric $h$-BN.
