Causes and environmental implications of increased UV-B radiation

TL;DR: In this paper, a discussion of the present understanding Ozone depletion and changes in environmental UV-B radiation Marine photochemistry and UV radiation Assessing biological and chemical effects of UV in the marine environment: Spectral weighting functions Effects of solar UV B radiation on terrestrial biota Sunlight, skin cancer and ozone depletion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physico-chemical characterization of atmospheric trace metal emissions from a primary zinc-lead smelter

TL;DR: A complementary environmental investigation revealed that, within the works boundary, the airborne metals might be associated mainly with the fugitive blowage of coarse particles containing primary ore minerals, but such fugitive emissions were found to be of low significance in the local environment outside the works perimeter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurements of airborne particulate and gaseous sulphur and nitrogen species in the area of the Azores, Atlantic Ocean

TL;DR: In this article, ground-level concentrations of particulate sulphate, nitrate, chloride, ammonium and iron, total particle count and gaseous nitric acid and sulphur dioxide have been measured in marine air on Santa Maria, an island in the Azores in the mid-North Atlantic Ocean.
