TL;DR: The Ground-based Cloud Experiment on Great Dun Fell as discussed by the authors used a wide range of measurements of trace gases, aerosol particles and cloud droplets at five sites to study their sources and sinks especially those in cloud.
Journal ArticleDOI
Air pollution exposure affects circulating white blood cell counts in healthy subjects: the role of particle composition, oxidative potential and gaseous pollutants - the RAPTES project.
Maaike Steenhof,Nicole A.H. Janssen,Maciej Strak,Gerard Hoek,Ilse Gosens,Ian Mudway,Frank J. Kelly,Roy M. Harrison,Raymond Pieters,Flemming R. Cassee,Bert Brunekreef +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that short-term air pollution exposure at real-world locations can induce changes in WBC counts in healthy subjects, and negative associations were observed for NO2 with lymphocytes and eosinophils, suggesting an independent effect of NO2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Major component composition of urban PM10 and PM2.5 in Ireland
Jianxin Yin,Andrew G. Allen,Roy M. Harrison,S. G. Jennings,E. Wright,M. Fitzpatrick,T. Healy,E. Barry,Darius Ceburnis,D. McCusker +9 more
TL;DR: The major sources contributing to particulate air pollution in urban as well as non-urban areas of Ireland were studied over an 18-month period using measurements at five sites including urban roadside, urban centre/background, rural and coastal environments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sources and contributions of wood smoke during winter in London: assessing local and regional influences
Leigh R. Crilley,William J. Bloss,Jianxin Yin,David C. S. Beddows,Roy M. Harrison,Roy M. Harrison,James Allan,Dominique E. Young,Dominique E. Young,Michael Flynn,Paul I. Williams,Peter Zotter,Peter Zotter,André S. H. Prévôt,Mathew R. Heal,Janet F. Barlow,Christos Halios,James D. Lee,Sönke Szidat,Claudia Mohr,Claudia Mohr +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantify the contribution of biomass burning in London to concentrations of PM2.5 and determine whether local emissions or regional contributions were the main source of biomass smoke.
