Journal ArticleDOI
Current state of knowledge on aetiology, diagnosis, management, and therapy of myocarditis: a position statement of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases.
Alida L.P. Caforio,S. Pankuweit,Eloisa Arbustini,Cristina Basso,Juan Ramón Gimeno-Blanes,Stephan B. Felix,Michael Fu,Tiina Heliö,Stephane Heymans,Roland Jahns,Karin Klingel,Aleš Linhart,Bernhard Maisch,William J. McKenna,Jens Mogensen,Y. M. Pinto,Arsen D. Ristić,Heinz-Peter Schultheiss,Hubert Seggewiss,Luigi Tavazzi,Gaetano Thiene,Ali Yilmaz,Philippe Charron,Perry M. Elliott +23 more
TL;DR: The aims are to bridge the gap between clinical and tissue-based diagnosis, to improve management and provide a common reference point for future registries and multicentre randomised controlled trials of aetiology-driven treatment in inflammatory heart muscle disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neoplastic pericardial effusion Efficacy and safety of intrapericardial treatment with cisplatin
TL;DR: Intrapericardials treatment with cisplatin appeared to successfully prevent recurrences of neoplastic pericardial effusion, and the treatment was more successful in lung than in breast cancer patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel correlations between the genotype and the phenotype of hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy: results from the German Competence Network Heart Failure
S. Waldmueller,Jeanette Erdmann,Priska Binner,G. Gelbrich,S. Pankuweit,Christian Geier,Bernd Timmermann,J. Haremza,Andreas Perrot,S. Scheer,Rolf Wachter,N. Schulze-Waltrup,A. Dermintzoglou,J. Farr,Hendrik Milting,Wulf Blankenfeldt,Richard Reinhardt,Cemil Oezcelik,Karl-Josef Osterziel,Markus Loeffler,Bernhard Maisch,Vera Regitz-Zagrosek,Heribert Schunkert,Thomas Scheffold +28 more
TL;DR: The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence and spectrum of mutations in both genes in German HCM and DCM patients and to establish novel genotype‐to‐phenotype correlations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of mutational hot spots in LMNA encoding lamin A/C in patients with familial dilated cardiomyopathy
Andreas Perrot,Shwan Hussein,Volker Ruppert,Hartmut H.-J. Schmidt,Manfred Wehnert,Nguyen Thuy Duong,Maximilian G. Posch,Anna N. Panek,Rainer Dietz,Ingrid Kindermann,Michael Böhm,Aleksandra Michalewska-Włudarczyk,Anette Richter,Bernhard Maisch,S. Pankuweit,Cemil Özcelik +15 more
TL;DR: It was remarkable that four mutations represent LMNA hot spots, which are important for lamin B interaction and lamin A/C dimerization in DCM patients with LMNA mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated sera sST2 is associated with heart failure in men ≤50 years old with myocarditis
Michael J. Coronado,Katelyn A. Bruno,Katelyn A. Bruno,Lori A. Blauwet,Carsten Tschöpe,Madeleine W. Cunningham,S. Pankuweit,Sophie Van Linthout,Eun Seok Jeon,Dennis M. McNamara,Jan Krejčí,Julie Bienertová-Vašků,Erika Douglass,Erika Douglass,Eric Abston,Adriana Bucek,J. Augusto Frisancho,Merci S. Greenaway,Anneliese R. Hill,Heinz-Peter Schultheiss,Leslie T. Cooper,DeLisa Fairweather,DeLisa Fairweather +22 more
TL;DR: It is shown in a well‐characterized subset of heart failure patients with clinically suspected and biopsy‐confirmed myocarditis that elevated sera sST2 is associated with an increased risk ofheart failure based on New York Heart Association class in men ≤50 years old.
