The genome of the domesticated apple ( Malus × domestica Borkh.)

Riccardo Velasco, +90 more
- 01 Oct 2010 -
TL;DR: It is shown that a relatively recent (>50 million years ago) genome-wide duplication has resulted in the transition from nine ancestral chromosomes to 17 chromosomes in the Pyreae, which partly support the monophyly of the ancestral paleohexaploidy of eudicots.
Journal ArticleDOI

A MITE transposon insertion is associated with differential methylation at the maize flowering time QTL Vgt1.

TL;DR: The results associate transposon-linked differential methylation with allelic state and gene expression at a major flowering time quantitative trait locus in maize.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic dissection of maize phenology using an intraspecific introgression library

TL;DR: An introgression library using the extremely early-flowering maize variety Gaspé Flint and the elite line B73 as donor and recipient genotypes is produced and will serve as a permanent source of nearly isogenic materials for multiple studies of QTL analysis and cloning.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maize adaptation across temperate climates was obtained via expression of two florigen genes

TL;DR: The role of a novel florigen gene, ZCN12, is shown in the latter adaptation in cooperation with ZCN8 of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, suggesting that florigens played a central role in ensuring a large range of flowering time, necessary for adaptation to temperate areas.
