TL;DR: It is shown that a relatively recent (>50 million years ago) genome-wide duplication has resulted in the transition from nine ancestral chromosomes to 17 chromosomes in the Pyreae, which partly support the monophyly of the ancestral paleohexaploidy of eudicots.
Journal ArticleDOI
A MITE transposon insertion is associated with differential methylation at the maize flowering time QTL Vgt1.
TL;DR: The results associate transposon-linked differential methylation with allelic state and gene expression at a major flowering time quantitative trait locus in maize.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic dissection of maize phenology using an intraspecific introgression library
Silvio Salvi,Simona Corneti,Massimo Bellotti,Nicola Carraro,Nicola Carraro,Maria Corinna Sanguineti,Sara Castelletti,Roberto Tuberosa +7 more
TL;DR: An introgression library using the extremely early-flowering maize variety Gaspé Flint and the elite line B73 as donor and recipient genotypes is produced and will serve as a permanent source of nearly isogenic materials for multiple studies of QTL analysis and cloning.
Journal Article
An updated consensus map for flowering time QTLS in maize
Journal ArticleDOI
Maize adaptation across temperate climates was obtained via expression of two florigen genes
Sara Castelletti,Aude Coupel-Ledru,Ítalo Stefanine Correia Granato,Carine Palaffre,Llorenç Cabrera-Bosquet,Chiara Tonelli,Stéphane Nicolas,François Tardieu,Claude Welcker,Lucio Conti +9 more
TL;DR: The role of a novel florigen gene, ZCN12, is shown in the latter adaptation in cooperation with ZCN8 of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, suggesting that florigens played a central role in ensuring a large range of flowering time, necessary for adaptation to temperate areas.
