Wilson,Loic Yengo,Nelli Hovhannisyan,Nick Patterson,Ron Pinhasi,David Reich,David Reich +56 more
TL;DR: This paper reported genome-wide ancient DNA from 44 ancient Near Easterners ranging in time between ~12,000 and 1,400 bc, from Natufian hunter-gatherers to Bronze Age farmers, showing that the earliest populations of the Near East derived around half their ancestry from a 'Basal Eurasian' lineage that had little if any Neanderthal admixture and that separated from other non-African lineages before their separation from each other.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Irish DNA Atlas: Revealing Fine-Scale Population Structure and History Within Ireland
Edmund Gilbert,Seamus O’Reilly,Michael Merrigan,Darren McGettigan,Anne M. Molloy,Lawrence C. Brody,Walter F. Bodmer,Katarzyna Hutnik,Sean Ennis,Daniel Lawson,James F. Wilson,James F. Wilson,Gianpiero L. Cavalleri +12 more
TL;DR: Fine-scale genetic structure across Ireland that follows geographic boundaries and present evidence of admixture events into Ireland is illustrated and high levels of North-West French-like and West Norwegian-like ancestry within Ireland are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
The genetic landscape of Scotland and the Isles
Edmund Gilbert,Seamus O’Reilly,Michael Merrigan,Darren McGettigan,Veronique Vitart,Peter K. Joshi,David W. Clark,Harry Campbell,Caroline Hayward,Susan M. Ring,Jean Golding,Stephanie Goodfellow,Pau Navarro,Shona M. Kerr,Carmen Amador,Archie Campbell,Chris Haley,Chris Haley,David J. Porteous,Gianpiero L. Cavalleri,James F. Wilson,James F. Wilson +21 more
TL;DR: Genetic analysis of 2,544 British and Irish individuals, including previously unstudied Scottish, Shetlandic and Manx individuals, demonstrates widespread structure across Scotland that echoes past kingdoms, and quantifies the considerable structure that is found on its surrounding isles.
