Self-constructed stable liquid crystal alignment in a monomer-liquid crystal mixture system

TL;DR: In this paper, octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) was added to the liquid crystal (LC) mixture for vertical alignment without using an alignment layer printing process, and the OTS-LC system exhibited a more stable LC alignment compared with the polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) -LC system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced contrast ratio and viewing angle of polymer-stabilized liquid crystal via refractive index matching between liquid crystal and polymer network.

TL;DR: Long standing electro-optic problems of a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) such as low contrast ratio and transmittances decrease in oblique viewing angle have been challenged with a mixture of dual frequency liquid crystal and reactive mesogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of Optimal Phase Retardation of a Fringe Field-Driven Homogeneously Aligned Nematic Liquid Crystal Cell

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal cell retardation value that shows the maximal transmittance in a fringe-field-driven homogeneously aligned (HA) nematic liquid crystal (LC) cell was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extremely Foldable and Highly Transparent Nanofiber-Based Electrodes for Liquid Crystal Smart Devices.

TL;DR: The nylon 6 nanofiber-reinforced cellulose acetate film as a fiber-based transparent substrate is used to develop the highly transparent electrodes with excellent durable and extremely foldable properties and the successful fabrication of the foldable polymer-disperse liquid crystal film utilizing highly transparent NF45-r-CA electrode.
