Combination of topological parameters and bone volume fraction better predicts the mechanical properties of trabecular bone.
Laurent Pothuaud,Bert van Rietbergen,Lis Mosekilde,Olivier Beuf,P. Levitz,Claude Laurent Benhamou,Sharmila Majumdar +6 more
TL;DR: Topological parameters and BV/TV were combined following two analytical formulations, based on: the normalization of the topological parameters; and on an exponential fit-model, which could potentially be used to increase the prediction of the mechanical properties of trabecular bone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multicenter precision of cortical and trabecular bone quality measures assessed by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography.
Andrew J. Burghardt,Jean-Baptiste Pialat,Jean-Baptiste Pialat,Galateia J. Kazakia,Stephanie Boutroy,Stephanie Boutroy,Klaus Engelke,Janina M. Patsch,Janina M. Patsch,Alexander Valentinitsch,Alexander Valentinitsch,Danmei Liu,Eva Szabo,Cesar E. Bogado,María Belén Zanchetta,Heather A. McKay,Elizabeth Shane,Steven K. Boyd,Mary L. Bouxsein,Roland Chapurlat,Sundeep Khosla,Sharmila Majumdar +21 more
TL;DR: The goal was to evaluate the feasibility of pooling data in multicenter HR‐pQCT imaging trials and to contribute to the future design and validation of standardized procedures that are broadly translatable to multicenter study designs.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of voxel size on high-resolution peripheral computed tomography measurements of trabecular and cortical bone microstructure
TL;DR: The effect of voxel size on the accuracy of HR-pQCT measurements of trabecular and cortical microstructure is demonstrated and parameters for HR- pQCT analysis at nonstandard resolutions are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparative study at 3 T of sequence dependence of T2 quantitation in the knee.
TL;DR: T2 quantification can be a valuable tool for the diagnosis of degenerative disease and when choosing a sequence for quantitation, it is important to realize that several factors affect the measured T2 relaxation time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Volumetric quantitative CT of the spine and hip derived from contrast-enhanced MDCT: conversion factors
TL;DR: With the conversion factors, reliable volumetric BMD measurements can be calculated for the hip and the spine from routine abdominal and pelvic MDCT data sets.
