Journal ArticleDOI

Lower-extremity arterial stiffness vs. aortic stiffness in the general population

TL;DR: It was observed that hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and dyslipidemia were positively and significantly associated with aPWV, however, only hypertension had a significant effect on lePWWV.
Journal ArticleDOI

α1-antitrypsin gene polymorphisms are not associated with renal arterial fibromuscular dysplasia

TL;DR: Polymorphisms PiM1, PiZ and PiS of the AAT gene are not associated with renal FMD or infraclinical carotid lesions detected by echotracking methods, and there is no correlation between the A AT genotypes and the clinical and angiographical characteristics of the FMD patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of the Complior Analyse device with Sphygmocor and Complior SP for pulse wave velocity and central pressure assessment.

TL;DR: The new Complior Analyse device provides equivalent results for PWV and central pressure values to the Sphygmocor and Complior SP, and reaches Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation standard for central blood pressure and grades as excellent for PWv on the Artery Society criteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guidelines from the British Hypertension Society.

TL;DR: In the United Kingdom, the prevalence of hypertension (high blood pressure more than 140/90 mm Hg) has been estimated to be 42% in people aged 35 to 64 as discussed by the authors.
