Intrinsic Stiffness of the Carotid Arterial Wall Material in Essential Hypertensives

TL;DR: In middle-aged and older HT patients, the intrinsic mechanical properties of the carotid arterial wall material were unchanged, and the increased stiffness of the commonCarotid artery in the HT group was due primarily to the increased level of blood pressure, indicating the deleterious effects of aging and hypertension on "intrinsic" stiffness are not additive.
Journal ArticleDOI

Large Artery Stiffening and Remodeling Are Independently Associated With All-Cause Mortality and Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Kidney Disease

TL;DR: It is shown that increased aortic stiffness and carotid internal diameter are independent predictors of mortality in patients with stages 2 to 5 chronic kidney disease and that aorti stiffness improves the prediction of the risk.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fibronectin Expression and Aortic Wall Elastic Modulus in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

TL;DR: The results indicate that the aortic wall material of SHRs and Wistar rats have equivalent mechanical properties, although in SHRs it is subjected to a higher level of stress.
