Antenatal Steroids Are Associated With Less Need for Blood Pressure Support in Extremely Premature Infants
Alicia A. Moise,Mary E Wearden,Claudia A. Kozinetz,Alfred L. Gest,Stephen E. Welty,Thomas N. Hansen +5 more
TL;DR: Receipt of antenatal corticosteroids is associated with less need for blood pressure support during the first 48 hours after birth in premature infants between 23 and 27 weeks' gestation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The airway microbiome of intubated premature infants: characteristics and changes that predict the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
Pablo Lohmann,Ruth Ann Luna,Emily B. Hollister,Sridevi Devaraj,Toni-Ann Mistretta,Stephen E. Welty,James Versalovic +6 more
TL;DR: The airways of premature infants are not sterile at birth and reduced diversity of the microbiome may be an important factor in the development of BPD and is not associated with differences in inflammatory mediators.

TL;DR: The results corroborate and extend the previous observations and further establish involvement of FOXF1 in ACD/MPV and lung organogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing heparin dosing in neonates on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Craig A. Nankervis,Thomas J. Preston,Kevin Dysart,Whitney D Wilkinson,Louis G. Chicoine,Stephen E. Welty,Leif D. Nelin +6 more
TL;DR: The increase in anti-factor Xa levels with time on ECMO suggests that heparin accumulates and/or that anti-thrombin III levels decrease with time in neonatal patients on venoarterial ECMO.
