MicroRNA-210 Controls Mitochondrial Metabolism during Hypoxia by Repressing the Iron-Sulfur Cluster Assembly Proteins ISCU1/2
Stephen Y. Chan,Ying Yi Zhang,Ying Yi Zhang,Craig Hemann,Christopher E Mahoney,Christopher E Mahoney,Jay L. Zweier,Joseph Loscalzo,Joseph Loscalzo +8 more
TL;DR: Important mechanistic connections among microRNA, iron-sulfur cluster biology, hypoxia, and mitochondrial function are identified, with broad implications for cellular metabolism and adaptation to cellular stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic regulation of circulating microRNA during acute exhaustive exercise and sustained aerobic exercise training
Aaron L. Baggish,Andrew E. Hale,Rory B. Weiner,Gregory D. Lewis,David M. Systrom,Francis Wang,Thomas J. Wang,Stephen Y. Chan +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a longitudinal, repeated measures study was conducted to determine whether c-miRNAs are dynamically regulated in response to acute exhaustive cycling exercise and sustained rowing exercise training.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNA-210: A unique and pleiotropic hypoxamir
Stephen Y. Chan,Joseph Loscalzo +1 more
TL;DR: Reflecting the pleiotropic actions of HIF-α, miR-210 appears to function as a “master microRNA” relevant for the control of diverse functions in the hypoxic state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency and clinical determinants of dementia after ischemic stroke
David W. Desmond,Joan T. Moroney,Myunghee Cho Paik,Mary Sano,Jay P. Mohr,Sami Aboumatar,Chin-Lin Tseng,Stephen Y. Chan,Janet B. W. Williams,Robert H. Remien,W. A. Hauser,Yaakov Stern +11 more
TL;DR: Dementia is frequent after ischemic stroke, occurring in one-fourth of the elderly patients in the authors’ cohort, and the results suggest that concomitant AD plays an etiologic role in approximately one-third of cases of dementia after stroke.
