The effects of electron–hole separation on the photoconductivity of individual metal oxide nanowires

TL;DR: The responses of individual ZnO nanowires to UV light demonstrate that the persistent photoconductivity (PPC) state is directly related to the electron-hole separation near the surface and illustrates the intrinsic potential of metal oxide nanowire to develop optoelectronic devices or optochemical sensors with better and new performances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Slightly hydrogenated TiO2 with enhanced photocatalytic performance

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural properties of H-TiO2 and their effects on photo-generated charges are comprehensively investigated, and it is shown that the higher ratio of trapped holes (O− centers) and a lower recombination rate induced by the increase of surface defects might be the critical factors for the high activity of s-H- TiO2.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting of Hematite Multilayer Nanowires Photoanode with Tuning Surface State via Bottom-up Interfacial Engineering

TL;DR: In this article, a hierarchical ITO/Fe2O3/FeTiO5/FeNiOOH multi-layer composites for photoelectrochemical water splitting is presented, and a series of systematic experiments designed to elucidate the mechanism underlying the interfacial coupling effect of the quaternary hematite composite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photoelectrochemical water splitting: a road from stable metal oxides to protected thin film solar cells

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed analysis of photoelectrochemical (PEC) devices from metal oxide electrodes forming a semiconductor-liquid junction to protected and catalyst-decorated third generation solar cells adapted into photo-electrodes is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mesoporous WO3 photocatalyst for the partial oxidation of methane to methanol using electron scavengers

TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic conversion of methane into methanol from an aqueous suspension containing mesoporous WO3 was studied, as well as the effect of the addition of electron scavengers (Fe3+, Cu2+, Ag+) and H2O2 species.
