Journal ArticleDOI
Germline mutations in the extracellular domains of the 55 kda tnf receptor, tnfr1, define a family of dominantly inherited autoinflammatory syndromes
Michael F. McDermott,Ivona Aksentijevich,Jérôme Galon,Elizabeth M. McDermott,B. William Ogunkolade,Michael Centola,Elizabeth Mansfield,Massimo Gadina,Leena Karenko,Tom Pettersson,John McCarthy,David M. Frucht,Martin Aringer,Yelizaveta Torosyan,Anna-Maija Teppo,Meredith Wilson,H.Mehmet Karaarslan,Ying Wan,Ian Todd,Geryl Wood,Ryan Schlimgen,Thisum R. Kumarajeewa,Sheldon M. Cooper,John P. Vella,Christopher I. Amos,John C. Mulley,Kathleen A. Quane,Michael G. Molloy,Annamari Ranki,Richard J. Powell,Graham A. Hitman,John J. O'Shea,Daniel L. Kastner +32 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that the autoinflammatory phenotype results from impaired downregulation of membrane TNFR1 and diminished shedding of potentially antagonistic soluble receptor inTNFR1-associated periodic syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial Effect of Interleukin 1 Inhibition with Anakinra in Adult-onset Still's Disease. An Open, Randomized, Multicenter Study
Dan Nordström,Ann Knight,Reijo Luukkainen,Ronald F van Vollenhoven,Vappu Rantalaiho,Anna Kajalainen,Johan G. Brun,Anne Prøven,Lotta Ljung,Hannu Kautiainen,Tom Pettersson +10 more
TL;DR: Anakinra induced more beneficial responses than DMARD in patients with AOSD and was favored in the open-label extension phase and wasavored in the OLE phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adenosine Deaminase in the Diagnosis of Pleural Effusions
TL;DR: In tuberculosis, empyema and rheumatoid arthritis ADA activity was significantly higher in pleural fluid than in serum, indicating a local synthesis of ADA by cells within the pleural cavity in these diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Injection-site reactions upon Kineret (anakinra) administration: experiences and explanations.
Christina Kaiser,Ann Knight,Dan Nordström,Tom Pettersson,Jonas Fransson,Ebba Florin-Robertsson,Björn Pilström +6 more
TL;DR: The present review summarises published data concerning ISRs associated with Kineret and provides some explanations as to their cause.
Journal ArticleDOI
Concentration of Hyaluronic Acid in Pleural Fluid as a Diagnostic Aid for Malignant Mesothelioma
TL;DR: In the differential diagnosis of pleural effusions associated with malignant tumors a high concentration of HA in pleural fluid combined with a low concentration of CEA suggests malignant mesothelioma as opposed to other types of cancer.
