- 13 Sep 2006 -
TL;DR: The ALICE Collaboration as mentioned in this paper is a general-purpose heavy-ion experiment designed to study the physics of strongly interacting matter and the quark-gluon plasma in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Applying Bayesian parameter estimation to relativistic heavy-ion collisions: simultaneous characterization of the initial state and quark-gluon plasma medium

TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantitatively estimate properties of the quark-gluon plasma created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions utilizing Bayesian statistics and a multiparameter model-to-data comparison.
Journal ArticleDOI

Event-by-event shape and flow fluctuations of relativistic heavy-ion collision fireballs

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a harmonic decomposition of the initial fluctuations in shape and orientation of the fireball and perform event-by-event (2 + 1)-dimensional ideal fluid dynamical simulations to extract the resulting fluctuations in the magnitude and direction of the corresponding harmonic components of the final anisotropic flow at midrapidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radial and elliptic flow in Pb + Pb collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider from viscous hydrodynamics

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive viscous hydrodynamic fit of spectra and elliptic flow for charged hadrons and identified pions and protons from all centralities measured at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is performed and used as the basis for predicting the analogous observables for the collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the collision energies of 5.5$A$ TeV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrodynamic elliptic and triangular flow in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76A TeV

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of both elliptic and triangular flow from (2 + 1 ) -dimensional viscous fluid dynamics with recent measurements in Pb+Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was conducted.
