Journal ArticleDOI
Protein kinase C isoforms and cell proliferation in neuroblastoma cells
TL;DR: This treatment with PMA did not affect DNA synthesis, indicating that PKC alpha does not play a significant role in the control of proliferation of these cells, and none of the treatments affected the content of the corresponding mRNAs.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Multiomics Study To Unravel the Effects of Developmental Exposure to Endosulfan in Rats: Molecular Explanation for Sex-Dependent Effects
Sonia Tarazona,Elena Bernabeu,Héctor Carmona,Belen Gomez-Gimenez,Javier García-Planells,Pim E.G. Leonards,Stephan Jung,Ana Conesa,Vicente Felipo,Marta Llansola +9 more
TL;DR: Light is shed into the molecular basis of impaired neurodevelopment and the identification of new biomarkers of neurotoxicity in rats exposed to endosulfan during embryonic development, and sex-dependent effects in the omic results that matched sex differences in cognitive and motor tests were found.
Journal Article
Pharmacological manipulation of cyclic GMP levels in brain restores learning ability in animal models of hepatic encephalopathy: therapeutic implications.
TL;DR: Data summarized indicate that impairment of learning ability in rats with chronic liver failure or hyperammonemia is due to impairment of the glutamate–NO–cGMP pathway, and increasing extracellular cGMP by pharmacological means may be a new therapeutic approach to improve cognitive function in patients with HE.
Journal Article
Inherited neuromuscular diseases. Translation from pathomechanisms to therapies.
TL;DR: This work states that the current standard of care for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is effective and effective, and that further studies are needed to assess the need for further standards of care and treatment changes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carbachol-induced hydrolysis of phospholipids in hippocampal slices may be mediated in part by subsequent activation of metabotropic glutamate receptors.
TL;DR: It is shown that AP-3 reduces carbachol-induced hydrolysis of phospholipids in hippocampal slices but not in cerebellar neurons at 10–14 days of culture, when these cells are not able to induce hydrolyses of phosphoipids following activation of metabotropic glutamate receptors.
