TL;DR: A systematic analysis of the RNA motifs recognized by RNA-binding proteins, encompassing 205 distinct genes from 24 diverse eukaryotes, provides an unprecedented overview of RNA- binding proteins and their targets, and constitute an invaluable resource for determining post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in eukARYotes.
Journal ArticleDOI
3D scaffolds in breast cancer research
Girdhari Rijal,Weimin Li +1 more
TL;DR: This review focuses on the most recent advances in scaffolding techniques, the cell-ECM and cell-cell interactions in scaffold cultures, the distinct physical properties and signaling regulation of cancer cell growth within the scaffolds, the sensitivities of the cancer cells to drugs in 3D culture, and the use of scaffolds for drug delivery into tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypoxia-Induced Endothelial Proliferation Requires Both mTORC1 and mTORC2
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated mTOR-associated signaling components under hypoxia and their effects on cell proliferation in rat aortic endothelial cells (RAECs) and showed that mTOR knockdown, rapamycin, or Akt inhibition specifically and significantly inhibited proliferation of serum-starved RAECs.
Journal ArticleDOI
A versatile 3D tissue matrix scaffold system for tumor modeling and drug screening.
Girdhari Rijal,Weimin Li +1 more
TL;DR: A reconstitutable tissue matrix scaffold (TMS) system fabricated using native tissue ECM, with tissue-like architecture and resilience that enables more biologically relevant studies and is suitable for preclinical drug screening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nuclear PI3K signaling in cell growth and tumorigenesis
TL;DR: Recent advances made toward elucidating the nuclear PI3K/Akt signaling cascade and its key components within the nucleus as they pertain to cell growth and tumorigenesis are summarized.
