Journal ArticleDOI
Au@Pd/TiO2 with atomically dispersed Pd as highly active catalyst for solvent-free aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol
TL;DR: In this paper, bimetallic Au@Pd/TiO 2 catalysts with an Au loading amount of 0.94% were prepared using a two-step photocatalytic deposition method, and the solvent-free aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol was investigated on the catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Opportunities for nanotechnology to enhance electrochemical treatment of pollutants in potable water and industrial wastewater – a perspective
Sergi Garcia-Segura,Xiaolei Qu,Pedro J. J. Alvarez,Brian P. Chaplin,Wei Chen,John C. Crittenden,Yujie Feng,Guandao Gao,Zhen He,Chia-Hung Hou,Xiao Hu,Guibin Jiang,Jae-Hong Kim,Jiansheng Li,Qilin Li,Jie Ma,Jinxing Ma,Alec Brockway Nienhauser,Junfeng Niu,Bingcai Pan,Xie Quan,Filippo Ronzani,Dino Villagrán,T. David Waite,W. Shane Walker,Can Wang,Michael S. Wong,Paul Westerhoff +27 more
TL;DR: Based upon an international workshop, the authors evaluates how nano-scale pore structures and unique properties that emerge at nano- and sub-nano-size domains could improve the energy efficiency and selectivity of electroseparation or electrocatalytic processes for treating potable or waste waters.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ remediation of subsurface contamination: opportunities and challenges for nanotechnology and advanced materials

Vikesland,Qiuquan Wang,Paul Westerhoff,Michael S. Wong,Tian Xia,Baoshan Xing,Bing Yan,Lunliang Zhang,Dongmei Zhou,Pedro J. J. Alvarez +33 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss opportunities for nanotechnology-enabled in situ remediation technologies to address soil and groundwater contamination, as well as the potential barriers for implementation and strategies and research needs to overcome these barriers.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Partitioning of PAHs to Egg Phospholipids Facilitated by Copper and Proton Binding via Cation-π Interactions
TL;DR: A specific sorption mechanism, cation-pi bonding between PAHs and complexed metal ions or protonated amine groups of phospholipids is proposed, suggesting additive polar extra-interactions besides hydrophobic effects in sorption.
Journal ArticleDOI
Supported N-doped carbon quantum dots as the highly effective peroxydisulfate catalysts for bisphenol F degradation
Jifei Hou,Li Hong,Yuqiong Tang,Jingya Sun,Heyun Fu,Xiaolei Qu,Zhaoyi Xu,Daqiang Yin,Shourong Zheng +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, N-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) supported on three supports (e.g., SiO2, ceria-zirconia solid solution/CeZrO2 and γ-Al2O3) were prepared, and catalytic peroxydisulfate (PDS) activation for BPF degradation was investigated.
