TL;DR: Global research trends in AMR among uropathogens showed a noticeable increase in the past decade, and most active authors in this field were from Japan.
Abstract: Objectives Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among uropathogens contributes to treatment failure. Research in AMR among uropathogens is important to establish treatment options. This study assessed global research trends in AMR among uropathogens. Methods SciVerse Scopus was used to retrieve relevant documents for the period 2002–2016. Only journal articles were included in the analysis. Analysis of author keywords was carried out using VOSviewer. Results A total of 1087 journal articles were retrieved with an h-index of 50. The number of publications increased noticeably in the past decade. Analysis of subject areas of retrieved documents showed that 275 (25.3%) articles were in molecular biology/genetics/microbiology/immunology, 197 (18.1%) were in pharmacological/therapeutic approaches for treatment of urinary tract infections and 615 (56.6%) were in epidemiology/public health. Terms such as multidrug-resistant and extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) appeared more frequently in documents published in the period 2012–2016. The mean number of authors per article was 5.3. Most active authors in this field were from Japan. The USA ranked first with 148 documents (13.6%), followed by India (97; 8.9%) and Iran (84; 7.7%). The top productive institution was Tehran University of Medical Sciences (21 publications), followed by Kobe University in Japan (20 publications). The Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy ranked first with 33 publications. Conclusion Research in AMR among uropathogens showed a noticeable increase in the past decade. Reports of increasing incidence of resistance among uropathogens were published from different parts of the world. Empirical therapy should be based on updated research in AMR.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that firms that are far from the target exhibit faster adjustments than firms close to the target, and overleveraged firms exhibit faster adjustment than underleveraging firms.
Abstract: Dynamic trade-off theory proposes that firms may deviate from their target capital structure but they will exhibit an adjustment behavior towards that target. Estimating the speed of adjustment (SOA) is an investigation for the joint hypotheses that the target actually exists and that firms adjust toward their target. However, using a single estimated SOA that fits all firms is misleading and cannot be used as evidence for or against the dynamic trade-off theory if the real dynamic behavior is largely heterogeneous. This study finds evidence for this heterogeneity in the SOA for Malaysian firms using system GMM approach. The study finds that firms that are far from the target exhibit faster adjustments than firms close to the target, and firms that are overleveraged exhibit faster adjustment than underleveraged firms. These results are consistent with the dynamic trade-off theory. However, the finding of this study cannot reject other interpretations of capital structure i.e., pecking order or timing theory, since the SOA for some of the firms is very slow and hence, cannot be the first order determinant of capital structure.

TL;DR: Research on medication adherence in PLWH showed regional variations and international research collaboration with high burden regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa needs to be strengthened to achieve the global target of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
Abstract: “Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)” and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) are global health burden. Medication adherence in people living with HIV (PLWH) is a key element in reducing morbidity and mortality. Quantitative and qualitative assessment of research activity helps identify research gaps as well as efforts implemented to improve adherence behaviors in PLWH. The aim of the current study was to assess and analyze literature on HIV/AIDS–related medication adherence using bibliometric methods. SciVerse Scopus was used to accomplish the purpose of the current study. The study period included all times up to 2017. The analysis was restricted to documents published in academic journals. Search strategy retrieved 3021 documents with an average of 32.5 citations per document, an h-index of 136, and an average of 4.4 authors per documents. The volume of literature on HIV/AIDS-related medication adherence constituted 1.3% of the overall HIV/AIDS literature. There was a significant (p < 0.01; r = 0.9) correlation between the growth of publications in AIDS-related stigma and medication adherence. The regions of America (567.9) had the highest research output per one million infected people (567.9) followed by the European region (314.3), Western Pacific Region (70.7), Eastern Mediterranean region (31.4), South East Asia (34.0), and Africa (19.3). Geographical distribution of publications showed an active contribution of certain countries in the Southern and Eastern region of Sub-Saharan Africa. Harvard University (8.4%; n = 254) was the most active institution. The top cited documents focused on the impact of adherence on disease outcome and the impact of text messages on improving medication adherence. Research on medication adherence in PLWH showed regional variations. International research collaboration with high burden regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa needs to be strengthened to achieve the global target of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
