01 Jul 2000TL;DR: The main result is to show that B1 and B2 axioms are indeed redundant, and an improvement of the decomposition theorem for saturated BL-chains as ordinal sums whose components are either MV, product or Gödel chains, in an analogous way as for continuous t-norms.
Abstract: In this paper we prove that Basic Logic (BL) is complete w.r.t. the continuous t-norms on [0, 1], solving the open problem posed by Hajek in [4]. In fact, Hajek proved that such completeness theorem can be obtained provided two new axioms, B1 and B2, were added to the original axioms of BL. The main result of the paper is to show that B1 and B2 axioms are indeed redundant. We also obtain an improvement of the decomposition theorem for saturated BL-chains as ordinal sums whose components are either MV, product or Godel chains, in an analogous way as for continuous t-norms. Finally we provide equational characterizations of the variety of BL-algebras generated by the three basic BL subvarieties, as well as of the varieties generated by each pair of them, together with completeness results of the calculi corresponding to all these subvarieties.

TL;DR: In this article, a process-based forest growth model, growth of trees is limited by water in the Mediterranean (GOTILWAþ), was applied to the Mediterranean region on Quercus ilex, Pinus halepensis, P. sylvestris and Fagus sylvatica forests, and the results showed a higher production promoted by projected climate change in response to the increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration and rainfall in the region.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assessed the natural evolution of patent false lumen in aortic dissection and predictive factors and concluded that the condition is associated with poor prognosis.
Abstract: Background—Patent false lumen in aortic dissection has been associated with poor prognosis. We aimed to assess the natural evolution of this condition and predictive factors. Methods and Results—One hundred eighty-four consecutive patients, 108 surgically treated type A and 76 medically treated type B, were discharged after an acute aortic dissection with patent false lumen. Transesophageal echocardiography was performed before discharge, and computed tomography was performed at 3 months and yearly thereafter. Median follow-up was 6.42 years (quartile 1 to quartile 3: 3.31–10.49). Forty-nine patients died during follow-up (22 type A, 27 type B), 31 suddenly. Surgical or endovascular treatment was indicated in 10 type A and 25 type B cases. Survival free from sudden death and surgical-endovascular treatment was 0.90, 0.81, and 0.46 (95% CI, 0.36–0.55) at 3, 5, and 10 years, respectively. Multivariate analysis identified baseline maximum descending aorta diameter (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.32 [1.10–1.59]; P=0.00...
