TL;DR: Pristine and sulfur doped TiO2 (S-TiO2) thin films were coated over the glass substrates by varying the concentration of sulfur source (thiourea − 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 ) using a cost-effective Jet nebulizer spray technique.
Abstract: Pristine TiO2 and sulfur doped TiO2 (S-TiO2) thin films were coated over the glass substrates by varying the concentration of sulfur source (thiourea – 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 at%) using a cost-effective Jet nebulizer spray technique. The deposited thin films were in anatase phase with the tetragonal structure analyzed from the XRD pattern. The chemical state of the elements was determined from XPS analysis. Pristine TiO2 and S-TiO2 thin films depict the presence of spherical particles embedded over 3-D interconnected wire-like structure from SEM analysis. Optical studies revealed reduction in band gap of S-TiO2 films on increasing the sulfur concentration (3.2–2.8 eV). The sulfur incorporation in TiO2 lattice confirmed by the fall in intensity of near band edge emission as observed from room temperature PL spectra. The charge carrier dynamics of the prepared thin films were studied by means of steady state and transient photoconduction measurements. The photocatalytic performance of pristine TiO2 and S-TiO2 thin films for the degradation of malachite green dye was investigated under visible light.

03 Apr 2014TL;DR: This work proposed to find merits and demerits of the AODV protocol using OMNET++ simulator to find the Ad-Hoc On demand Distance Vector Protocol (AODV) is the best choice for different types of infrastructure less network.
Abstract: Ad-Hoc network is the ultimate solution for mobile (movable) user's network. Now a day the huge growth of mobile users in network, so such infrastructure less (MANET) network are needed. Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of mobile device, multi hop and self configured network. In this infrastructure less (MANET) network the routing is a challenging work, because there is no fixed device, all are movable and each device act as a node as well as a router. The mobile Ad-Hoc network has more routing protocols to address the packet. According to the previous survey, we found the Ad-Hoc On demand Distance Vector Protocol (AODV) is the best choice for different types of infrastructure less network. This work proposed to find merits and demerits of the AODV protocol using OMNET++ simulator.

TL;DR: Heavy inorganic load in majority of the groundwater samples has been estimated due to the salinity, TDS, TH and chloride beyond the threshold level which substantiates the percolation of sea water into the freshwater confined zones.
Abstract: A study was carried out in the Island and mainland regions of Ramanathapuram District to characterize the physico-chemical characteristics of 87 groundwater samples in Island and 112 groundwater samples in mainland which include pH, EC, TDS, salinity, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, total hardness, chloride and fluoride. Heavy inorganic load in majority of the groundwater samples has been estimated due to the salinity, TDS, TH and chloride beyond the threshold level which substantiates the percolation of sea water into the freshwater confined zones. Although the groundwater sources are available in plenty, the scarcity of potable water is most prevalent in this coastal area. The Water Quality Index (WQI) and Langeleir Saturation Index (LSI) have also been calculated to know the potable and corrosive/incrusting nature of the water samples. The statistical tools such as principal component analysis, box plots and correlation matrix have also been used to explain the influence of different physico-chemical parameters with respect to one another among the groundwater samples. The percentage of groundwater samples in mainland was more than that in Island with respect to the acceptable limit of WHO drinking standard, especially in TDS, CH, TH and chloride but the converse is observed in the case of fluoride. About 8 % of the mainland aquifers and 42 % of Island aquifers were identified to have fluoride greater than 1.5 mg/l. The signature of salt-water intrusion is observed from the ratio of Cl/CO32− + HCO3 and TA/TH. A proper management plan to cater potable water to the immediate needs of the people is to be envisaged.
