Abstract: To understand the role of hyperthermia (HT) in adaptive response, methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) adapted meiotic cells of Poecilocerus pictus were used. Poecilocerus pictus were treated with conditioning (L) or challenging (H) dose of MMS and 2-h time lag (TL) between these doses (L-2h-H) (combined) was employed. Different treatment schedules were used to analyse the influence of HT on MMS-induced adaptive response namely pre; inter; post-treatment and cross-adaptation. After each treatment schedules, chromosomal anomalies were analysed. The frequencies of chromosomal anomalies induced by conditioning and challenging doses of MMS were significantly higher (P < 0.0001) compared to that of the control or HT groups. The combined treatments resulted in significant reduction of chromosomal anomalies compared to additive effect of MMS (P < 0.0001). The pre, inter, post and cross-adaptation treatments with HT reduced the frequencies of chromosomal anomalies compared to the challenge and combined treatments with MMS. There is a protection against MMS-induced chromosomal anomalies by HT in in vivo P.pictus. This is the first report to demonstrate that HT enhances the MMS-induced adaptive response in in vivo meiotic cells.

Abstract: MgFe2O4 nanoferrites were synthesized by sol-gel and solution combustion synthesis (SCS) methods through green and chemical methods. Green and chemical methods for sol-gel were processed with use of lemon extract and citric acid, respectively. A green and chemical method for solution combustion synthesis was followed by using Phyllanthus acidus leaf extract and urea, respectively. The influence of synthesis approach on the behaviour of prepared nanoferrites were studied using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV visible spectroscopy, vast variation in particle size, crystallinity, electrochemical and photocatalytic activity of the nanoferrites synthesized by various methods were witnessed. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) result of prepared nanoferrites acquired by green and chemical approaches clarified phase structure as spinel and the crystalline size found to be around 11-24 nm. The spinel surface morphology was witnessed for the synthesized nanoferrites. The tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the prepared nanoferrites were confirmed by FTIR spectra. MgFe2O4 nanoferrites synthesized by green sol-gel approach exposed superior electrochemical activity by possessing very less charge transfer resistance. The results of EIS were correlated with the photocatalytic degradation of Rose Bengal dye. Photocatalytic property of the prepared nanoferrites was examined for photodegradation of Rose Bengal dye under UV-light.

Abstract: Globalization process has affected many aspects of human life. Education in general and higher education in particular is no exception to it. Globalization gathered momentum in higher education in the second half of 1990. Education as a service industry is a part of globalization process becoming commodity in the third world (TW) countries like India. Universities and higher education system in India and Asia have become the agents of both internationalization and globalization. Indian society which is historically characterized by high degree of social stratification and institutional in equally governed by caste system where a huge section of SC/STs population stand at the bottom of caste hierarchy and denied equal rights in education. The objective of this paper is to find out the role of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in promoting higher education among SC/STs and also to find out whether SC/STs are able to transform themselves to fit into the current education system and are they able to place themselves in this new knowledge economy which is the result of globalization and Information communication and Technology development in India. The findings show that SC/STs still remain discriminated in education and there are major constraints for them in taking up higher education. Int. J. Soc. Sci. Manage. Vol-2, issue-4: 304-307
