02 Nov 1988TL;DR: An aerobrake for an orbital transfer vehicle that permits recovery of the vehicle for refurbishment and reuse after a payload has been deployed in a desired geo-synchronous earth orbit by slowing the vehicle to a low earth orbit for return to earth by a shuttle vehicle on the like for recovery and reuse as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An aerobrake for an orbital transfer vehicle that permits recovery of the vehicle for refurbishment and reuse after a payload has been deployed in a desired geo-synchronous earth orbit by slowing the vehicle for reentry of the vehicle to a low earth orbit for return to earth by a shuttle vehicle on the like for recovery and reuse. The aerobrake includes a flexible thermal blanket that is folded inwardly against the vehicle in a predetermined stored manner and which, after the payload is deployed, is driven to an extended position by power hinges that drive a plurality of supporting panel members that cooperate with drag links to provide a lightweight strong supporting structure for the thermal blanket.

22 May 2006TL;DR: In this article, a method for managing operability of an on-chip debug capability (24 ) in a product configured to execute software (30 ) includes storing ( 74, 76 ) a debug public key ( 40 ) and an operational public key( 44 ) in product memory ( 54 ).
Abstract: A method for managing operability of an on-chip debug capability ( 24 ) in a product ( 26 ) configured to execute software ( 30 ) includes storing ( 74, 76 ) a debug public key ( 40 ) and an operational public key ( 44 ) in product memory ( 54 ). The software ( 30 ) with either a debug signature ( 82 ) or an operational signature ( 88 ) is saved ( 84 ) in the memory ( 56 ). When enablement indication is received, the debug signature ( 82 ) is validated ( 102 ) using the debug public key ( 40 ). The debug capability ( 24 ) is enabled upon validation of the signature ( 82 ) and the software ( 30 ) is allowed to execute. When disablement indication is received, the operational signature ( 88 ) is verified ( 112 ) using the operational public key ( 44 ). The on-chip debug capability ( 24 ) is disabled upon verification of the signature ( 88 ) and the software ( 30 ) is allowed to execute.

TL;DR: In this article, the resonant vibration frequencies of a fiber-reinforced, thick-wall, circular-cylindrical shell of finite length were analyzed using an iterative, yet exact, method.
Abstract: The resonant vibration frequencies of a fiber-reinforced, thick-wall, circular-cylindrical shell of finite length which is materially monoclinic are analyzed. The degree of material anisotropy precludes a closed-form solution and so an iterative, yet exact, method is used. The analytical method is validated by comparison of results with previously published results for a homogeneous, isotropic thin shell, and an orthogonally stiffened-thin shell modeled as orthotropic. Results for a materially monoclinic, thick-wall shell with free-free end conditions are compared with experimental results obtained by the present investigators.

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Bacon preferred-orientation technique was used in studies of film carbons deposited in fluidized beds, and the authors calculated absorption factors for a modified bacon preferred orientation technique for specimen sizes and densities.
