TL;DR: Testing word associations, as an extension of simple password entry, may be a practical means of verifying the identity of individual computer users if each user specifies his/her own cue-response associations, then responses will be easy to remember.

TL;DR: Techniques for processing security constraints in a distributed environment during query, update, and database design operations are described by this work.
Abstract: In a multilevel secure distributed database management system, users cleared at different security levels access and share a distributed database consisting of data at different sensitivity levels. An approach to assigning sensitivity levels, also called security levels, to data is one which utilizes constraints or classification rules. Security constraints provide an effective classification policy. They can be used to assign security levels to the data based on content, context, and time. We extend our previous work on security constraint processing in a centralized multilevel secure database management system by describing techniques for processing security constraints in a distributed environment during query, update, and database design operations. >

01 Dec 1997TL;DR: The Simjava simulation-support package has been extended to utilize the Remote Method Invocation facilities of the Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.1.
Abstract: An investigation is underway regarding technologies to support the design, development and use of distributed, web-based simulations. As part of this investigation the Simjava simulation-support package has been extended to utilize the Remote Method Invocation facilities of the Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.1. Current efforts with Simjava are described and future research directions are outlined.

07 Oct 2001TL;DR: It is shown that propagated effects are significant for the 1st leg after leaving an airport affected by reduced capacities and diminish from leg to leg.
Abstract: The Detailed Policy Assessment Tool (DPAT) models the propagation of delay throughout a system of airports and sectors. We present a DPAT analysis to show the effects of simulated changes in capacity due to inclement weather. Local delays are dependent on the capacity to demand ratio of departures and arrivals. We show that propagated effects are significant for the 1st leg after leaving an airport affected by reduced capacities and diminish from leg to leg.

TL;DR: This paper is a status update on the Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) initiative, one of the efforts focused on improving the utility and effectiveness of code-based security assessment technology.
Abstract: This paper is a status update on the Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) initiative [1], one of the efforts focused on improving the utility and effectiveness of code-based security assessment technology. As hoped, the CWE initiative has helped to dramatically accelerate the use of tool-based assurance arguments in reviewing software systems for security issues and invigorated the investigation of code implementation, design, and architecture issues with automation.
