TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors conducted a comprehensive survey of 1450 households in 26 Chinese provinces to identify the characteristics and potential driving forces of residential energy consumption in China and found that a typical Chinese household in 2012 consumed 1426 kilograms standard coal equivalent, which is approximately 44 percent of the 2009 level in the United States and 38 percent of 2008 level in China.

TL;DR: In this article, the electronic and magnetic structures of LaFeAsO have been studied from the first-principles calculations, and it is found that a large magnetic moment of similar to 2.6 mu(B) is located around each Fe ion, embedded in the environment of itinerant electrons.
Abstract: From the first-principles calculations, we have studied the electronic and magnetic structures of LaFeAsO. It is found that a large magnetic moment of similar to 2.6 mu(B) is located around each Fe ion, embedded in the environment of itinerant electrons. In the ground state, these local Fe moments are in collinearly antiferromagnetic order, resulting from the interplay between the strong nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor superexchange antiferromagnetic interactions bridged by As atoms. The structure transition observed by the neutron scattering is shown to be magnetically driven. Our study suggests that the antiferromagnetic fluctuation plays an important role in Fe-based superconductors. This sheds light on the understanding of the pairing mechanism in these materials.

TL;DR: In this paper, a few-layer Tellurium (Te) is shown to have a covalent-like quasi-bonding (CLQB) where wavefunction hybridization does occur.
Abstract: Few-layer Tellurium, an elementary semiconductor, succeeds most of striking physical properties that black phosphorus (BP) offers and could be feasibly synthesized by simple solution-based methods. It is comprised of non-covalently bound parallel Te chains, among which covalent-like feature appears. This feature is, we believe, another demonstration of the previously found covalent-like quasi-bonding (CLQB) where wavefunction hybridization does occur. The strength of this inter-chain CLQB is comparable with that of intra-chain covalent bonding, leading to closed stability of several Te allotropes. It also introduces a tunable bandgap varying from nearly direct 0.31 eV (bulk) to indirect 1.17 eV (2L) and four (two) complex, highly anisotropic and layer-dependent hole (electron) pockets in the first Brillouin zone. It also exhibits an extraordinarily high hole mobility (∼105 cm2/Vs) and strong optical absorption along the non-covalently bound direction, nearly isotropic and layer-dependent optical properties, large ideal strength over 20%, better environmental stability than BP and unusual crossover of force constants for interlayer shear and breathing modes. All these results manifest that the few-layer Te is an extraordinary-high-mobility, high optical absorption, intrinsic-anisotropy, low-cost-fabrication, tunable bandgap, better environmental stability and nearly direct bandgap semiconductor. This "one-dimension-like" few-layer Te, together with other geometrically similar layered materials, may promote the emergence of a new family of layered materials.

TL;DR: This article examined the mediating role of employees' perceptions of social and economic exchange relationships with their employees and found that social exchanges partially mediate the influence of the CEO's transformational leadership, an integrative organizational culture, and the mutual investment employment approach on affective commitment and task performance but not on organizational citizenship behavior.

TL;DR: The results suggest that SlMAPK3 is involved in drought response in tomato plants by protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage and modulating transcription of stress-related genes.
Abstract: Drought stress is one of the most destructive environmental factors that affect tomato plants adversely. Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are important signaling molecules that respond to drought stress. In this study, SlMAPK3 was induced by drought stress, and the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) system was utilized to generate slmapk3 mutants. Two independent T1 transgenic lines and wild-type (WT) tomato plants were used for analysis of drought tolerance. Compared with WT plants, slmapk3 mutants exhibited more severe wilting symptom, higher hydrogen peroxide content, lower antioxidant enzymes activities, and suffered more membrane damage under drought stress. Furthermore, knockout of SlMAPK3 led to up- or down-regulated expressions of drought stress-responsive genes including SlLOX, SlGST, and SlDREB. The results suggest that SlMAPK3 is involved in drought response in tomato plants by protecting cell membranes from oxid...
