TL;DR: A novel method for the detection of breast lesions in ultrasound images using texton filter banks, local configuration pattern features, and classification, without employing any segmentation technique is presented, able to accurately detect and classify breast lesions.
Abstract: Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women worldwide. While mammography remains the gold standard in breast cancer screening, ultrasound is an important imaging modality for both screening and cancer diagnosis. This paper presents a novel method for the detection of breast lesions in ultrasound images using texton filter banks, local configuration pattern features, and classification, without employing any segmentation technique. The developed method was able to accurately detect and classify breast lesions and achieved an accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive value of 96.1%, 96.5%, 95.3%, and 97.9%, respectively. The paradigm that we describe may, therefore, be useful as an effective tool to detect breast nodules during screening and in whole breast imaging, enabling clinicians to focus on images where a lesion is already known to be present. The developed method may also serve as a component for automatic breast nodule detection, and, when found, for the subsequent classification between lesion type benign versus malignant.

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of cow dung reinforced poly(lactic acid) (PLA) biocomposites was investigated for the potential use in load bearing application, and the results showed an improvement in the flexural properties, while the tensile and impact strength dropped by 20 and 28%.
Abstract: In this work, performance of cow dung (CD) reinforced poly(lactic acid) (PLA) biocomposites was investigated for the potential use in load bearing application. CD of average 4 mm size was blended with PLA at different CD ratios (0–50 wt%) and their effects on the biocomposite properties were studied. The results showed an improvement in the flexural properties, while the tensile and impact strength dropped by 20 and 28% with the addition of 50% CD. The decline in the tensile and impact strength was due to micro-cracking and voids formation at higher CD content. Also, the incorporation of CD slightly decreased the thermal stability of the biocomposite. However, dynamic mechanical properties of the biocomposites generally improved. SEM analysis of tensile and impact fractured surfaces indicated that the CD had a reasonable adhesion with matrix. Moreover, the SEM micrographs of soil burial studies showed an accelerated degradation of higher CD wt% biocomposites.

TL;DR: Investigation of the relationship between spirituality with quality of life and stress of Malay Muslim breast cancer patients in Malaysia indicated that the more spiritual respondents reported a higher level of quality oflife and lower level of stress.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between spirituality with quality of life and stress of Malay Muslim breast cancer patients in Malaysia. In addition, the moderating role of education on this relationship was examined. Participants consisted of 145 conveniently selected Malay breast cancer patients. The results indicated that the more spiritual respondents reported a higher level of quality of life and lower level of stress. Moreover, education weakened the relationship between spirituality with quality of life and stress.
