TL;DR: Of these drugs, magnesium sulphate, lignocaine and sodium bicarbonate were the most effective while alfentanil was the least effective in minimizing pain due to injection of rocuronium.
Abstract: We compared the efficacy of magnesium sulphate, lignocaine, sodium bicarbonate or alfentanil in minimizing pain due to injection of rocuronium in 250 patients. After tourniquet application on the forearm, the patients were given saline, magnesium sulphate, lignocaine, sodium bicarbonate 8.4% or alfentanil, diluted into a 3 ml solution. The occlusion was released after 20 seconds, and rocuronium was injected over 10 to 15 seconds. The patients were observed and asked immediately if they had pain in the arm and the response was assessed. Reactions such as discomfort and pain, withdrawal of the hand and screaming after the administering of the rocuronium were recorded as side-effects and patients were reassessed at 24 hours postoperatively. We concluded that magnesium sulphate, lignocaine, sodium bicarbonate or alfentanil decreased the level of rocuronium injection pain. Of these drugs, magnesium sulphate, lignocaine and sodium bicarbonate were the most effective while alfentanil was the least effective.

TL;DR: The micellar behavior of a cationic surfactant, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and an nonionic surfACTant, polysorbate 20 (Polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monolaurate) in different alcohol solutions media was investigated over the temperature range 293.15–313.15 K.
Abstract: In this research, the micellar behavior of a cationic surfactant, cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and an nonionic surfactant, polysorbate 20 (Polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monolaurate) in different alcohol solutions media was investigated over the temperature range 293.15–313.15 K. The interaction between two surfactants in binary systems can be determined by calculating the values of their β parameters. The critical micelle concentrations (CMC) of the micelles were determined from the surface tension, the conductivity at different temperatures. The CMC behavior of CTAB and polysorbate 20 was analyzed in terms of the effect of temperature and the increase in the alcohol carbon chain. Changes in the critical micelle concentration of mixed surfactant systems of different alcohol solutions were measured. The CMC decreased sharply as the hydrocarbon chain length of the alcohols becomes larger. This shows that the more hydrophobic alcohols are, the more marked a decrease in CMC is observed.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the chronic administration of vitamin C may be of therapeutic benefit on cisplatin nephrotoxicity and structural damages and morphometric changes were lessened.
Abstract: The present study was performed to investigate whether the chronic administration of antioxidant vitamin C provided morphological protection on cisplatin-induced renal damage. Wistar albino male rats were divided into control and two experiment groups, each consisting of six rats. Cisplatin (5 mg/kg/month) was administered intravenously to the second and third group for three months. After the first application of cisplatin, vitamin C (8 mg/kg/day) to the third group was administered intramuscular for 3 months. At the end of the third month, the kidney specimens of the all groups were obtained. All of these kidney specimens were processed for light and electron microscopical examination. In the second group, most of the renal corpuscle lost their normal appearance and size, especially in the corticomedullary region. The most obvious changes were encountered in the proximal tubules. These changes were tubular dilation, thickening of basement membrane, loss of brush border, vacuolization, and swollenness of...

TL;DR: This paper presents a hybrid approach that contains two steps that can invoke each other and discovers informative content using Decision Tree Learning as an appropriate machine learning method and creates rules from the results of this learning method.
Abstract: Eliminating noisy information and extracting informative content have become important issues for web mining, search and accessibility. This extraction process can employ automatic techniques and hand-crafted rules. Automatic extraction techniques focus on various machine learning methods, but implementing these techniques increases time complexity of the extraction process. Conversely, extraction through hand-crafted rules is an efficient technique that uses string manipulation functions, but preparing these rules is difficult and cumbersome for users. In this paper, we present a hybrid approach that contains two steps that can invoke each other. The first step discovers informative content using Decision Tree Learning as an appropriate machine learning method and creates rules from the results of this learning method. The second step extracts informative content using rules obtained from the first step. However, if the second step does not return an extraction result, the first step gets invoked. In our experiments, the first step achieves high accuracy with 95.76% in extraction of the informative content. Moreover, 71.92% of the rules can be used in the extraction process, and it is approximately 240 times faster than the first step.

TL;DR: Pedobarographic investigation can be useful to evaluate pressure distribution disorders in RA feet and may provide suitable guidelines for the design of various plantar supports.
Abstract: Objective The aim of this study was to assess probable plantar pressure alterations in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients by comparison with normal subjects and to investigate the probable relation between pressure distribution under the foot and radiologic foot erosion score.
