Genomic characterization and antimicrobial resistance profiles of Salmonella enterica serovar Infantis isolated from food, humans and veterinary-related sources in Brazil

Abstract: To characterize the genetic relatedness, phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial resistance and plasmid content of 80 Salmonella Infantis strains isolated from food, humans and veterinary sources from 2013 to 2018 in Brazil.Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis and single-nucleotide polymorphism analysis showed major clusters containing 50% and 38.8% of the strains studied respectively. Multilocus sequence typing assigned all strains to ST32. Disk-diffusion revealed that 90% of the strains presented resistant or intermediate resistant profiles and 38.8% displayed multidrug resistance. Resistance genes for aminoglycosides (aac(6')-Iaa; aadA12; aph(3″-Ib; aph(6)-Id), β-lactams (blaTEM-1 ; blaCTX-M-8 ; blaCMY-2 ), trimethoprim (dfrA8), tetracycline (tet(A)), amphenicols (floR), sulfonamide (sul2), efflux pumps (mdsA; mdsB), chromosomal point mutations in gyrB, parC, acrB and pmrA were detected. Strains harboured IncI, IncF, IncX, IncQ, IncN and IncR plasmids.The presence of a prevalent S. Infantis subtype in Brazil and the high antimicrobial resistance rates reinforced the potential hazard of this serovar for the public health and food safety fields.This is the first study characterizing a large set of S. Infantis from Brazil by whole-genome sequencing, which provided a better local and global comprehension about the distribution and characteristics of this serovar of importance in the food, human and veterinary fields.

Publicidade de alimentos: vende-se o quê?

Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze the persuasion arguments of food advertising related to emotion and practicality, in the Brazilian television. This is a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach in which we analyzed ten examples of commercials that were selected monitoring two open channels for seven days in random periods in the year 2017. The analysis showed that the speech uses arguments related to solving problems of everyday life, associating the demands of feelings to nutrition and giving love, related mainly to family roles. The main characters are women in family contexts or in common, routine conditions that show hurry or automatic functions in the task of preparing food. The food is offered as a solution to the concerns of practical life and frustrations, inducing to consume themwith the promise to solve objective and subjective problems.

Controle jurisdicional das políticas públicas que visam concretizar o direito à saúde

Abstract: Este trabalho tem o intento de analisar o controle jurisdicional de politicas publicas implementadas ou nao pela Administracao Publica como mecanismo para consecucao e concretizacao do direito a saude previsto nos artigos 6o e 196 da Constituicao Federal de 1.988, denominada de constituicao cidada e marco inicial de um Estado Democratico de Direito preceituador de intervencao estatal para promover as transformacoes almejadas pelos cidadaos e as promessas de modernidade nela previstas. Apreciam-se com doutrina e decisoes judiciais, principalmente as do Supremo Tribunal Federal, as normas constitucionais e legais que garantem o direito a saude, as controversias atuais existentes sobre o tema, o nucleo basico constitucional que qualifica o minimo exigivel e da reserva do possivel que sao condicionantes para dar legitimidade aos juizes na intervencao sem ferir o principio da separacao dos poderes previsto no artigo 2o da Carta Magna.

Desafios da avaliação na educação superior no brasil

Abstract: A avaliacao da educacao superior e polemica tanto no âmbito da graduacao quanto no da pos-graduacao. Isso porque diferentes sao os criterios utilizados – e que nem sempre sao consensuais na comunidade academica – como tambem o sao os recursos disponibilizados para a realizacao da avaliacao. Em verdade, as normativas emitidas pelos Conselhos Nacional e Estadual de Educacao sao deveras relevantes no processo de avaliacao. Dessa forma, buscamos identificar nesse trabalho a trajetoria em torno das discussoes e da legislacao relativa a execucao procedimental da avaliacao, tanto na graduacao quanto na pos-graduacao e, com isso, fomentar uma discussao sobre os limites dos instrumentos utilizados atualmente que revelam novos desafios a avaliacao. Para tanto, o presente artigo utilizar-se-a do metodo dedutivo, por meio de analises legislativas e doutrinarias.

Effect of hydrogen peroxide application on color and surface roughness of two restorative materials

Abstract: Aim: This study investigated the effect of an in-office bleaching technique on lightness, color and surface roughness of two commercially available materials: a resin-modified glass-ionomer cement and a nanohybrid resin composite. Methods: Twelve disk-shaped specimens were prepared with both materials. The samples were bleached with 35% hydrogen peroxide. Bleaching was tested initially onto a smooth surface and later onto a polished one of the same specimens. The effect of the treatments on lightness and color was verified with a spectrophotometer. Surface roughness was measured with a digital surface roughness tester. The data were statistically analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA and post hoc Tukey’s test (alpha = 0.05). Results: Significant variation in lightness and color was observed on the resin-modified glass-ionomer cement after the first bleaching procedure. Roughness increased significantly only after polishing the resin-modified glass-ionomer cement surface. Composite color variation was evident in the last observation period, but roughness and lightness variation due to bleaching and polishing was not significant. Conclusion: The bleaching treatment caused significant color alterations on the materials tested. This study observed that the application of in-office bleaching onto the glass-ionomer cement promoted clinically observable color alteration, and polishing after bleaching is contraindicated for this material.
