TL;DR: In this article, a statistical evaluation of wood particles of Palisander (Jacaranda Mimosifolia) and Oak (Quercus robur L.) was carried out by laser analyzer.
Abstract: The article is dealing with wood dust particle size problem in consideration of their fire and explosion. The aim of the thesis is statistical evaluation of wooden particles of Palisander (Jacaranda Mimosifolia) and Oak (Quercus robur L.). The samples were taken from the operation of the production furniture, in which dust is formed during the technology. Measurement was carried out by laser analyzer. Measurements were carried out on samples in specific time interval. Values, which were acquired, were evaluated of characteristics of the Weibull Distribution and treated in statistical program. It has been found by means of measurement and evaluation that sample of Palisander (Jacaranda Mimosifolia) has finer grain than sample of Oak (Quercus robur L.), therefore the has greater assumption to the creation of fire and explosions in process at the wood processing. We note in comparison with other sizes of wood particles, that the percentages are comparable.

TL;DR: In this paper, an illite-based ceramic body with fly ash addition was investigated by the thermal analysis techniques (di erential thermal analysis, thermodilatometry and thermogravimetry) and the acoustic emission technique.
Abstract: Acoustic Emission During Firing of the Illite-Based Ceramics with Fly Ash Addition M. Knapek, T. Húlan, P. Dobro¬, F. Chmelík, A. Hlinku 1, 949 74 Nitra, Slovakia In this work, illite-based ceramic body with power plant y ash addition (60 wt.% of illite, 30 wt.% of y ash and 10 wt.% of illite red at 1100 ◦C) was investigated by the thermal analysis techniques (di erential thermal analysis, thermodilatometry and thermogravimetry) and the acoustic emission technique. The green body was heated up to 1100 ◦C at three di erent rates 2.5, 5, 10 K/min. The most intense acoustic emission was recorded at the highest rate 10 K/min. Mutual correlations between thermal analyses and acoustic emission data were also examined. The rst acoustic emission response appears at 430 ◦C, corresponding to a small endotherm on the DTA curve, where the thermal decomposition of mineral portlandite takes place. In the temperature range from 600 to 900 ◦C, high acoustic emission activity correlates with dehydroxylation and expansion of the sample. At temperatures higher than 800 ◦C, the source of acoustic emission signals is the thermal decomposition of calcite. The amorphous phase created from illite at 920 ◦C becomes pyroplastic, therefore it is not documented by the acoustic emission technique. TL;DR: Observations show that xylene has the potential to suppress ovarian cell functions, and that buckwheat, rooibos, and vitex can mitigate those effects, making them natural protectors against the adverse effects of xylene on ovarian cells.
Abstract: This study examines whether selected functional food and medicinal plants can mitigate the adverse effects of xylene on ovarian cells. The influences of xylene (0, 10, 100, or 1000 ng/mL), buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), rooibos (Aspalathus linearis), vitex (Vitex agnus-castus), extracts (10 μg/mL each), and a combination of xylene with these plant additives on cultured porcine ovarian granulosa cells are compared. Cell viability, proliferation (PCNA accumulation), apoptosis (accumulation of bax), and release of progesterone (P4) and estradiol (E2) were analyzed by the trypan blue tests, quantitative immunocytochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, respectively. Xylene suppressed all measures of ovarian cell function. Rooibos prevented all of xylene’s effects, whereas buckwheat and vitex prevented four of five of the analyzed effects (buckwheat prevented xylene influence on viability, PCNA, bax, and E2; vitex prevented xylene action on viability, PCNA, and P4 and E2). These observations show that xylene has the potential to suppress ovarian cell functions, and that buckwheat, rooibos, and vitex can mitigate those effects, making them natural protectors against the adverse effects of xylene on ovarian cells.
