Idiopathic hypertrophic cranial pachymeningitis

Abstract: Idiopathic hypertrophic cranial pachymeningitis is an infrequent chronic inflammatory process of unknown etiology which causes thickening of the dura mater and progressive neurologic alterations due to the compression of adjacent structures. A case is presented of an adult woman with a clinical syndrome consisting of headache, progressive visual loss and bilateral optic neuropathy. The diagnosis was based upon visualization of the thickened dura mater in neuroimaging studies and the exclusion of known causes by histopathological examination. Diagnosis and follow-up of this condition are currently easier with the use of nuclear magnetic resonance with contrast medium. Biopsy of the dura mater continues to be the gold standard for the definitive diagnosis of this disease. Steroid therapy causes clinical improvement in most of the patients; however, relapses are frequent, making necessary the concomitant use of other immunosuppressive agents such as cyclophosphamide or azathioprine. Mortality is low but definitive neurologic sequelae are common.

Estudio de los sistemas silvopastoriles como alternativa para el manejo sostenible de la ganadería

Abstract: Silvopastoral systems are seen as a feasible solution for livestock with a focus on sustainability, particularly because they contribute to food security, by generating food products, jobs and income. However, livestock has also generated negative impacts on the environment, such as soil compaction, detriment of biodiversity, deforestation, pollution of water sources and emission of greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change, this being one of the most worrisome environmental problems, since it harms all living beings on the planet. For this reason, it is essential to delve into the issue of silvopastoral systems, their types, advantages and disadvantages to present them as an alternative solution that contributes to mitigate the livestock effect on the environment, representing a viable option for its conservation and adaptation to climate change; this is achieved by allowing the intensification of livestock production through the optimization and rational use of natural resources.

Abstract: La transformacion de residuos lignocelulosicos, pone en evidencia las grandes posibilidades que presenta nuestro pais, rico en recursos agricolas que generan grandes cantidades de este tipo deresiduos, paradar solucion a la crisis energetica La transformacion de estos en productos quimicos trae consigo beneficios economicos y socialesEn esta investigacion se analizo el pseudotallode platano, como una fuente potencial de biomasa lignocelulosica, utilizable para la obtencion de azucares para la fermentacion etanolica Se encontro que el pseudotallo de platano posee una cantidad significativa de azucares, de facil hidrolisis, que habia estado inadvertida En esta investigacion se demostro la presencia de almidon con una cantidad del 3 al 5%, que puede ser concentrado y aislado facilmente Este hechomejorarel atractivo del pseudotallo de platano como materia prima, desde el punto de vista de produccion a gran escala de etanol y otras sustancias quimicas de interes industrial

Abstract: The purpose is to analyze the role of the research university professor, in correspondence with the challenges in the world of globalization and its didactic practice. The context of the contemporary era was assumed, full of innovations, renovations and reforms, as of uncertainties, contradictions and paradoxes, which requires significant changes in the improvement of the educational quality of its pedagogical practice, due to the didactic presence of the Master Class , while developing extraordinary experiences based on the application of new technologies. Methodologically, it was determined to conduct a documentary research that facilitated the structuring of an approach to globalization, its impact on university education, research activity and university pedagogical practice. It was concluded: in the globalized world, universities and their agents must value research in its transcendence, developing it as a dynamic training process, demanding updated teachers, researchers, proactive motivators of formative participation through inquiry
