TL;DR: In this paper, the extent to which linguistic segregation has been enforced in the complex Witwatersrand townships is measured in this paper, suggesting constraints by the inherited township structures and management problems.
Abstract: Apartheid in South Africa operates at several levels, notably in the policies of state partition and urban residential segregation. The Black population of South African cities resides in racially exclusive townships where the various linguistic groupings are further separated as part of the apartheid policy of state partition. The extent to which linguistic segregation has been enforced in the complex Witwatersrand townships is measured in this paper. The policy has been less effective than other forms of urban segregation, suggesting constraints by the inherited township structures and management problems.

TL;DR: The complex [ReOI2(ame)(PPh3)] (Hame=2-(2-aminophenyl)ethanol) was prepared from trans-ReOi2(OEt) and Hame in benzene and contains an unusually long Re=O bond and a large trans O=Re–O (ethanolate) bond angle.
Abstract: The complex [ReOI2(ame)(PPh3)] (Hame=2-(2-aminophenyl)ethanol) was prepared from trans-[ReOI2(OEt) (PPh3)2] and Hame in benzene. It contains an unusually long Re=O bond (1.717(5) A) and a large trans O=Re–O (ethanolate) bond angle of 171.4(2)°.

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of the MOCVD VI:II ratio during growth has on the properties of ZnO thin films grown on glass slides using diethyl zinc (DEZ) and tert-butanol (TBOH) as precursors.
Abstract: We report on the impact the MOCVD VI:II ratio during growth has on the properties of ZnO thin films grown on glass slides using diethyl zinc (DEZ) and tert-butanol (TBOH) as precursors. Our work displays the critical effect of this growth parameter on the defects located in the crystal lattice. Oxygen vacancies and other oxygen-induced defects are shown to affect the films' tensile strain, stress, grain size, bandgap structure, and dispersion properties.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of project managers (PMs), independent agents engaged by clients to manage and co-ordinate the design and construction processes, on construction health and safety (H&S) is investigated.
Abstract: The paper reports on a study which investigates the influence of project managers (PMs),independent agents engaged by clients to manage and co-ordinate the design and constructionprocesses, on construction health and safety (H&S).Based upon a literature review and descriptive survey of PMs, the study determined thatPMs prioritise the traditional project parameters of cost, quality and time, consider andrefer to H&S more frequently during construction, than during procurement and designrelated occasions, generally consider and refer to H&S relative to various design relatedactivities, encounter design and procurement related situations which negatively affectH&S more frequently than situations which complement H&S. It also found that the potentialexists for various design, procurement and related aspects and actions to contribute toan improvement in H&S performance, and inadequate H&S negatively impacts on otherproject parameters and increases project risk.

TL;DR: Cooper et al. as discussed by the authors reported that the Caspian tern Sterna caspia occurs along the whole southern African coastline and on large river systems and water bodies away from the coast.
Abstract: Summary Cooper, J., Brooke, R.K., Cyrus, D.P., Martin, A.P., Taylor, R.H. & Williams, A.J. 1992. Distribution, population size and conservation of the Caspian Tern Sterna caspia in southern Africa. Ostrich 63: 58–67. The Caspian Tern Sterna caspia occurs along the whole southern African coastline and on large river systems and water bodies away from the coast. A total of 28 definite breeding localities has been recorded in southern Africa. Breeding has occurred recently at at least 14 coastal localities between Swakopmund, Namibia, and Lake St Lucia, Natal, South Africa. Inland breeding has been recorded in recent years at Sua Pan, Botswana and Kalkfonteindam, Orange Free State, South Africa. Based on censuses conducted between 1980 and 1991, the southern African breeding population is estimated to be of the order of 500 pairs, 91% of which breed coastally and 89% breed on islands. Up to 290 pairs (58%) bred at Lake St Lucia. Seventyone per cent of the 1980–1991 breeding population falls within eight natu...
