TL;DR: In this article , the atomistic to micro-scale mechanisms of metal carbide decomposition were investigated through transmission electron microscopy and atomistic simulation, and it was shown that metal carbides can deform plastically during high-temperature creep, which is supported by the observation of high-density dislocations within MC and steps at matrix/MC interfaces.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors conducted in-situ tensile straining and post-mortem electron microscopy characterization, and atomistic density functional theory simulation to understand the RT superplasticity of an Al-15 Zn (at%) alloy.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the functional behavior of nanocrystalline NiTi shape memory wires having various austenitic microstructures and found that no plastic strains and lattice defects are generated by martensitic transformation proceeding in the absence of external stress, and plastic strains generated while the wire shortens during reverse transformation upon heating are significantly larger than plastic strain generated while it elongates upon forward transformation on cooling.
