Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Two methods for the preparation and isolation of apoferredoxins are described, and their use in the reconstitution of ferredoxin by the addition of ferrous ions and 2-mercaptoethanol andFerrous ions, sodium sulfide, and2-mer Capto-ethanol respectively are described.

Journal ArticleDOI
Yoshio Imai1, Ryo Sato1
TL;DR: Evidence is presented that P-450 is involved in the drug-induced spectral changes which appear to be closely connected to the mechanism of drug hydroxylation by liver microsomes.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the role of bound creatine kinase in mitochondrial respiration was investigated and it was shown that extra mitochondrial adenine nucleotides are required for the function of this acceptor system which does not act as an acceptor for intramitochondrial ATP.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The uncoupling agent 2,4-dinitrophenol at a concentration of 1.0mM decreased electrical resistance of synthetic lipid bilayers separating two aqueous components containing 0.1 M NaCl, qualitatively and quantitatively consistent with Mitchell's hypothesis that uncoupled agents for oxidative phosphorylation act primarily to cause transfer of protons across the H+-impermeable mitochondrial membrane.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The aspartic acid residue in position 151 has now been correctly determined as asparagine and the investigation of the covalent structure of this protein is completed.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A rapid and sensitive method to assay for DNA-DNA hybridization is presented and advantage is taken of the observation of Klamerth (1965) that single stranded DNA can be eluted from nitrocellulose with buffers of low ionic strength and high pH, whereas the DNA hybridized can not.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Results are presented which indicate that acyl-CoA synthetase is confined to the outer mitochondrial membrane, carnitine palmityltransferase and β-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase to the inner mitochondrial membranes, and glutamate dehydrogenases to the matrix of the mitochondrion.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Yeast seryl-t-RNA contains N6-(Δ2-isopentenyl) adenosine adjacent to the presumed anticodon and this component can be selectively modified by treatment of the RNA with aqueous iodine.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The effect of less inhibitory doses of cycloheximide on the polysomes of hamster embryo cells grown in vitro is described, consistent with the hypothesis that low concentrations of the drug cause the ribosomes to move more slowly along the mRNA, but have less effect on ribosome attachment.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The present communication reports further experiments on increased ketogenesis due to glucagon, and suggests that the likely mechanism of this effect is activation of hepatic lipase, thus increasing the supply of fatty acids for β-oxidation within the liver.
