A study on pupils' learning performance and thermal comfort of primary schools in China

TLDR
In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between temperature and learning performance and found that thermal discomfort caused by high or low temperatures had a negative impact on pupil learning performance, while carbon dioxide concentration, acoustics, and illumination were maintained at the same level.

Effects of moderate thermal environments on cognitive performance: A multidisciplinary review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the two dominant conceptual models linking thermal stress to performance; (1) the inverted-U concept and (2) the extended-U relationship, which posits a broad central plateau across which there is no discernible thermal effect on cognitive performance.

A review on global solar radiation prediction with machine learning models in a comprehensive perspective

TL;DR: A compact guide of existing model modification and novel model development regarding predicting global solar radiation, including input parameters, feature selection and model development for machine-learning models is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of ventilation strategies and air purifiers on the children's exposure to airborne particles and gaseous pollutants in school gyms.

TL;DR: The study revealed that the use of air purifiers with windows kept closed (natural ventilation) can lead to a significant reduction in terms of indoor-to-outdoor concentration ratios, and for low ACH values, the reduction is quite negligible.

The impact of glazing ratio and window configuration on occupants’ comfort and energy demand: The case study of a school building in Eskisehir, Turkey

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of different transparency ratios (WWR) and window combinations in two critical orientations (west and east) on occupants' comfort and the energy demands of a classroom was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal comfort and energy-saving potential in university classrooms during the heating season

TL;DR: In this article, a field survey conducted in a classroom during the heating season in Taiyuan, China was conducted to study the university students' general and local thermal comfort, and the results indicated that PMV overestimated the thermal sensation of students.

Do indoor pollutants and thermal conditions in schools influence student performance? A critical review of the literature

TL;DR: Overall, evidence suggests that poor IEQ in schools is common and adversely influences the performance and attendance of students, primarily through health effects from indoor pollutants.

Ventilation rates in schools and pupils' performance

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of classroom ventilation on pupils' performance were investigated in 8 primary schools in England, and the results of computerized performance tasks performed by more than 200 pupils showed significantly faster and more accurate responses for Choice Reaction (by 2.2%), Colour Word Vigilance (By 2.7%), Picture Memory (by 8%) and Word Recognition (by 15%) at the higher ventilation rates compared with the low ventilation conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of indoor air temperature and humidity in an office on perceived air quality, SBS symptoms and performance.

TL;DR: Perceived air quality, sick building syndrome symptoms and performance of office work were studied in a real office space at three levels of air temperature and humidity and two levels of ventilation rate and the previously observed impact ofTemperature and humidity on perceived air quality and the linear correlation between acceptability and enthalpy was confirmed.

How does the temperature affect learning?

The temperature can have a negative impact on learning performance, with the highest performance recorded at a temperature of approximately 14 °C. Pupils perform best when they feel "slightly cool" to "cool".

What are the benefits of temperature in learning environment?

The paper states that the temperature in the learning environment has an impact on pupils' learning performance. It was found that an optimal performance was obtained when pupils felt "slightly cool" to "cool".

What is the impact of school records on pupils performance in primary schools?

The provided paper does not discuss the impact of school records on pupils' performance in primary schools.
