Abstract
: An atmospheric data base consisting of volume mixing ratios (o0 to 12okm) for twenty eight (28) minor and trace gases has been assembled for use with spectral radiance transmittance models. Six references atmospheres, each defining temperature, pressure and density as a function of altitude (selected from the U.S. Standard Supplements, 1966 and the U.S. Standard Atmosphere, 1976) provide a range of climatological choices. Analogous zonal-mean descriptions for 2O, O3, N2O, CO, and CH4 have been subsequently adapted from satellite data and/or dynamical-photochemical analyses. The remaining species are defined by single profiles, usually appropriate for U.S. Standard conditions. Because the entire profile set is preferentially based on available measurements, explicit photochemical consistency between the different species has not been maintained. Computing the total atmospheric refraction for real-time optical imaging sensor simulation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a discussion of the adaptation to real-time simulation of atmospheric refraction ray tracing techniques used in mid-1980's LOWTRAN releases, including the use of Gauss-Chebyshev Quadrature integration for evaluating the refraction integral.

Physical inversion of the full IASI spectra: further validation and inter-comparison of O3 and OCS products

TL;DR: In this paper, the physical, simultaneous, inversion of the full IASI (Infrared Atmospheric Sounder Interferometer) spectra applied to the retrieval of surface temperature and emissivity, temperature, water vapour, ozone and HDO vertical profiles, and gas column abundance of CO2, CO, CH4, SO2, N2O, HNO3, NH3, OCS and CF4 have been updated.

Sky radiance at a coastline and effects of land and ocean reflectivities

TL;DR: In this paper, a case study of the spectral sky radiance distribution above a coastline is presented, where three diode array spectroradiometers are compared to 3D model simulations from the Monte Carlo model MYSTIC.

Estimation of Inactivation time for the SARS-CoV-2 virus from the UV biometer in South Korea

TL;DR: In this article , the authors used the broadband UV observation instrument over 11 observation sites in South Korea to estimate the inactivation time of the SARS-CoV-2, which is significantly dependent on seasonal and diurnal variations due to the temporal variations of surface incident UV irradiance.

Refined interpretation of the spectral behavior of optical thickness and residual atmospheric absorption in short-wavelength region of spectrum

TL;DR: In this article, the spectral ranges for which gaseous absorption should be considered in case of measuring fluxes with the K-3 spectrometer are selected, and the analysis demonstrated that the absorption by five gases, namely H2O, O3, O2, NO2 and NO3 is significant for the examined measurements.
