: An atmospheric data base consisting of volume mixing ratios (o0 to 12okm) for twenty eight (28) minor and trace gases has been assembled for use with spectral radiance transmittance models. Six references atmospheres, each defining temperature, pressure and density as a function of altitude (selected from the U.S. Standard Supplements, 1966 and the U.S. Standard Atmosphere, 1976) provide a range of climatological choices. Analogous zonal-mean descriptions for 2O, O3, N2O, CO, and CH4 have been subsequently adapted from satellite data and/or dynamical-photochemical analyses. The remaining species are defined by single profiles, usually appropriate for U.S. Standard conditions. Because the entire profile set is preferentially based on available measurements, explicit photochemical consistency between the different species has not been maintained. Greenhouse gas profiling by infrared-laser and microwave occultation: retrieval algorithm and demonstration results from end-to-end simulations
TL;DR: In this paper, an algorithm for retrieving greenhouse gas (GHG) profiles from LEO-LEO infrared-laser occultation (LIO) data, applied as a second step after retrieving thermodynamic profiles (pressure, temperature, humidity) from LMO-retrieved pressure, temperature and altitude information, was presented.

Radiative transfer models for retrieval of cloud parameters from EPIC/DSCOVR measurements
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the accuracy and efficiency of several radiative transfer models for inferring cloud parameters from radiances measured by the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) on board the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR).

Anomalous short wave absorption and atmospheric tides
TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that increased absorption of the above magnitude results in sizable increases in the migrating diurnal surface pressure tide computed from classical tidal theory, and the annually averaged peak tide increases by 150 to 250 µb when the anomalous absorption is considered.

Large regional shortwave forcing by anthropogenic methane informed by Jovian observations
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that shortwave forcing by anthropogenic methane can be accurately calculated despite considerable uncertainty and large gaps in its shortwave spectroscopy and demonstrate that the forcing is insensitive, even when confronted with much more complete methane absorption spectra extending to violet light wavelengths derived from observations of methane-rich Jovian planets.
