TLDR
The inhibitor SKF-525A differentiated between the demethylase activities present in the two types of induced animals, inhibited the activity found in microsomes of phenobarbital-induced rats but had little effect on the activity inmicrosomes from 3-methylcholanthrene-treated rats.About:

The requirement for iron (III) in the initiation of lipid peroxidation by iron (II) and hydrogen peroxide.
Giorgio Minotti,Steven D. Aust +1 more
TL;DR: Using Fe2+, H2O2, and phospholipid liposomes as a model system, it is found that lipid peroxidation, as assessed by malondialdehyde formation, is not initiated by the hydroxyl radical, but rather requires Fe3+ and Fe2+.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ferritin and superoxide-dependent lipid peroxidation.
TL;DR: Data suggest that ferritin may function in vivo as a source of iron for promotion of superoxide-dependent lipid peroxidation, and that initiation is not via an iron-catalyzed Haber-Weiss reaction.

Aryl hydrocarbon (benzo[a]pyrene) hydroxylase in microsomes from rat tissues: Differential inhibition and stimulation by benzoflavones and organic solvents
TL;DR: The data indicate the existence of at least two forms of benzo[ a ]pyrene hydroxylating enzyme systems in rat tissues which can be differentially induced in vivo by administration of phenobarbital or methylcholanthrene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microsomal electron transport. The role of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-cytochrome c reductase in liver microsomal lipid peroxidation
TL;DR: The results indicate that the NADPH-dependent peroxidation of microsomal lipid involves the activity of NAD PH-cytochrome c reductase, and suggest that an additionalmicrosomal electron transport component is involved.
Journal ArticleDOI
The use of acetylated ferricytochrome c for the detection of superoxide radicals produced in biological membranes.
TL;DR: The ability of acetylation of 60% of lysine residues of horse heart ferricytochrome c to be reduced by 0 2 − radicals is maintained, making this derivative useful for the detection of 0 1 − radicals in biological systems containing cy tochrome c reductases or oxidases.

Substrate-inducible Microsomal Aryl Hydroxylase in Mammalian Cell Culture: I. Assay and properties of induced enzyme
TL;DR: The spectrophotofluorometric determination of hydroxylated benzo[a]pyrene products is sufficiently sensitive to detect 10-12 mole per ml and has great utility in measuring the hydroxymatic activity of cells grown in culture.
