TLDR
The key challenges in data-driven Internet design are identified and the grand opportunities for designing future Internet architecture, communication models, and resource management mechanisms enabled by the availability of massive network data are pointed out.Abstract:
Big data opens the era of the fourth paradigm for science discovery through datadriven computing. This new paradigm applies to the design of the future Internet, which currently faces issues in supporting new applications, efficient resource utilization, and continuous evolvement. We observe several technological transformations in network architecture, services, and applications, and point out the grand opportunities for designing future Internet architecture, communication models, and resource management mechanisms enabled by the availability of massive network data. In particular, we envision in the future Internet: 1) computational complexity replaces state complexity in the control plane; 2) data intelligence enables user choices and rewards innovations; and 3) correlations from data analytics help solve inherently hard optimization problems. Finally, we identify the key challenges in data-driven Internet design and outline future research directions.read more

Data-Driven Information Plane in Software-Defined Networking
TL;DR: It is argued that the existence of a data-driven information plane in SDN can address challenges due to the lack of global network-wide information, and the evolution of SDN is overviewed and a novel SDN paradigm is illustrated by introducing a Data Driven Information Plane into the commonly accepted SDN reference architecture.

A Distributed Publisher-Driven Secure Data Sharing Scheme for Information-Centric IoT
Ruidong Li,Hitoshi Asaeda,Jie Li +2 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper proposed a distributed publisher-driven secure data sharing for ICIoT to enable only authorized users to retrieve IoT data from distributed cache, through which publishers can retrieve the attributes from nearby copy holders instead of a centralized attribute server.

A quest for an Internet video quality-of-experience metric
TL;DR: The issue of interdependency can be addressed by casting this as a machine learning problem to build a suitable predictive model from empirical observations and it is shown that setting up the problem based on domain-specific and measurement-driven insights can minimize the impact of the various confounding factors to improve the prediction performance.
