Bioclimate of Italy: application of the worldwide bioclimatic classification system
TLDR
In this paper, the WBCS of Rivas-Martinez was applied to the Italian territory and surrounding areas between latitudes 35°47′-46°60′ N and longitudes 5°92′-21°39′ E.Abstract:
The worldwide bioclimatic classification system (WBCS) of Rivas-Martinez was applied to the Italian territory and surrounding areas between latitudes 35°47′–46°60′ N and longitudes 5°92′–21°39′ E. The ‘WorldClim’ precipitation and temperature dataset was used as the source data. Application of the WBCS in a geographic information system allowed the production of macrobioclimates, bioclimates, ombrotypes, continentality, compensated thermicity index and ombro-evaporal index maps at a scale of 1:5,500,000, and a map of thermotypes at a scale of 1:2,250,000. Moreover, the isobioclimates of Italy are identified and quantified in terms of areas. These maps are available here as raster datasets (1 km spatial resolution) and are useful for: (i) rapid bioclimatic diagnosis of the Italian territories; and (ii) vegetation–environment relationship modeling at the national scale.read more

The climate of the European region during the 20th and 21st centuries according to Feddema
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that Feddema's (2005) method effectively reproduces the expected effects of the main geographical controls on the formation of the climatic characteristics of the European region.

First record of the steppic relict Astragalus exscapus L. subsp. exscapus in the Apennines (Abruzzo, Italy), and biogeographic implications
TL;DR: The finding of a population of A. exscapus on the slopes of the Fucino basin in the Central Apennines (Abruzzo, Italy) significantly expands the known species range, suggesting that during Pleistocene steppic phases it had a wide distribution across Europe.

Vegetation Cover and Tumuli’s Shape as Affecting Factors of Microclimate and Biodeterioration Risk for the Conservation of Etruscan Tombs (Tarquinia, Italy)
TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of vegetation cover and of overlaying soil, after the establishment of an evergreen turf of a cultivar of Cynodon dactylon, on two tombs in the Etruscan Necropolis of Monterozzi, covered by linear-shaped tumuli, was assessed for 10 months.

Analysis of intraspecific seed diversity in Astragalus aquilanus (Fabaceae), an endemic species of Central Apennine.
TL;DR: The characterisation of A. aquilanus seeds shows large intraspecific plasticity both in morpho-colorimetric and chemical composition, which confirms the strong relationship between the type of seed produced and the climatic variables.

A Coefficient of agreement for nominal Scales
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a procedure for having two or more judges independently categorize a sample of units and determine the degree, significance, and significance of the units. But they do not discuss the extent to which these judgments are reproducible, i.e., reliable.
