An “actual” problem: Another issue of apples and oranges

TL;DR: Actuarial analysis, whether by the life table method, Kaplan-Meier product limit calculation, or a number of other variants, was originally introduced to assess survival probability in a population where not everybody is dead at the time of inquiry, and offered itself as eminently suitable when the time-related assessment of non-fatal events became a necessity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Stage II and III Breast Carcinoma

TL;DR: A favorable significant difference exists for polychemotherapy in prolonging disease-free interval in the authors' series of breast carcinoma patients treated for five days every six weeks for the first postoperative year.
Journal ArticleDOI

Standardized definitions and clinical endpoints in carotid artery and supra-aortic trunk revascularization trials.

TL;DR: The proposed definitions encompass baseline clinical and anatomic characteristics, clinical and radiologic outcomes, complications, standards of reporting, and timing of assessment that will allow reliable comparisons between these two revascularization methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carcinoma of the cervix stage IB: Results of treatment with radiation therapy

TL;DR: An analysis has been made of 101 patients treated with radiation therapy for epidermoid carcinoma of the cervix Stage IB from January 1970 through December 1976, finding that 18 patients developed complications; however, one patient had a recto-vaginal and a vesico- Vaginal fistula; thus 19 complications were recorded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incidence of tumours in the cervical region of the rat after treatment with radiation and hyperthermia

TL;DR: Histology revealed that 88 per cent (14/16) of the examined tumours found inside the treated volume after hyperthermia and irradiation were soft tissue rhabdomyosarcomas, and most tumours were tumours of the mammary gland.
