TLDR
In this article, the authors have shown that the reactivity of free amino acids with chlorine is related to their structure and that the amide linkage does not participate significantly in the chlorine demand of polypeptides, and does not seem to be TOX precursor.

+Chlorination by-products in indoor swimming pools: Development of a pilot pool unit and impact of operating parameters.

TL;DR: DBP levels in the pilot plant were representative of French indoor swimming pools and the impact of bathers' activity was visible on volatile DBPs, and correlations could be stated between operating parameters and DBP levels.

Character and Treatment of Organic Colloids in Challenging and Impacted Drinking Water Sources

TL;DR: Aquatic colloids are ubiquitous in nature and are composed of inorganic and organic material and during treatment of drinking water they foul granular filters, membranes, and granular activated carbon and are likely to hinder oxidation processes as discussed by the authors.

Electron donating capacities of DOM model compounds and their relationships with chlorine demand, byproduct formation, and other properties in chlorination.

TL;DR: The levels and variation of the EDC values were not significantly correlated with the total organic carbon, specific UV absorbance at 254 nm, or assimilable organic carbon of the model compounds.

Body fluid analog chlorination: Application to the determination of disinfection byproduct formation kinetics in swimming pool water.

TL;DR: This study investigates the kinetics of chlorine consumption, chloroform formation and dichloroacetonitrile formation caused by human releases and shows that the reactivity toward chlorine differs whether L-histidine is isolated or mixed with BFA components.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation and influence factors of halonitromethanes in chlorination of nitro-aromatic compounds

TL;DR: It is effectively to reduce the production of trichloronitromethane and DCNM formation from chlorination of 2-nitrophenol by controlling disinfection conditions in drinking water.
