TLDR
It is shown that the orientation of power in frequency domain corresponds to the velocity of a multiplicative envelope, and may arise as a restricted form of lighting effects, translucency or occlusion, and both the location and orientation of spectral power may be extracted from the phase and amplitude output of band-pass filters, consonant with existing non-Fourier models.

The computation of optical flow

TL;DR: The computation of optical flow is investigated in this survey: widely known methods for estimating optical flow are classified and examined by scrutinizing the hypothesis and assumptions they use.

A model of neuronal responses in visual area MT.

TL;DR: A computational model of MT physiology, in which local image velocities are represented via the distribution of MT neuronal responses, which is performed in two stages, corresponding to neurons in cortical areas V1 and MT.

Signal analysis

TL;DR: The parts of this book of most interest and value to the EMC engineer will be the chapters on Thermal Noise, Antennas, Propagation and Transmission Lines, and Reflection and Refraction.

Computing optical flow with physical models of brightness variation

TL;DR: This paper describes a generalized formulation of optical flow estimation based on models of brightness variations that are caused by time-dependent physical processes, which simultaneously estimate the 2D image motion and the relevant physical parameters of the brightness change model.

Motion psychophysics: 1985-2010.

TL;DR: This review traces progress made in the field of visual motion research from 1985 through to 2010, and attempts to cover most of the major achievements, and speculate on where the field is heading.

Performance of optical flow techniques

TL;DR: These comparisons are primarily empirical, and concentrate on the accuracy, reliability, and density of the velocity measurements; they show that performance can differ significantly among the techniques the authors implemented.

Spatiotemporal energy models for the perception of motion

TL;DR: In this article, the first stage consists of linear filters that are oriented in space-time and tuned in spatial frequency, and the outputs of quadrature pairs of such filters are squared and summed to give a measure of motion energy.
