Experimental results show the imperceptibility and high robustness of the proposed method against Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and JPEG compression attacks.Abstract:
In this paper, a new multiplicative image watermarking system is presented. As human visual system is less sensitive to the image edges, watermarking is applied in the contourlet domain, which represents image edges sparsely. In the presented scheme, watermark data is embedded in the most energetic directional subband. By modeling general gaussian distribution (GGD) for the contourlet coefficients, the distribution of watermarked noisy coefficients is analytically calculated. At the receiver, based on the maximum likelihood (ML) decision rule, the optimal detector is proposed. Experimental results show the imperceptibility and high robustness of the proposed method against Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and JPEG compression attacks.read more

TL;DR: It is argued that insertion of a watermark under this regime makes the watermark robust to signal processing operations and common geometric transformations provided that the original image is available and that it can be successfully registered against the transformed watermarked image.

TL;DR: A "true" two-dimensional transform that can capture the intrinsic geometrical structure that is key in visual information is pursued and it is shown that with parabolic scaling and sufficient directional vanishing moments, contourlets achieve the optimal approximation rate for piecewise smooth functions with discontinuities along twice continuously differentiable curves.

TL;DR: The robust optimum detection of multiplicative watermarks can be applied to copyright notification, enforcement, and broadcast monitoring and the square-root detector is designed and demonstrated to have near optimal performance for a large set of natural images and can be employed as a "universally optimal" detector or decoder for images and video.
